Enough about Me!
Carly Icon

Sometimes it’s hard to think of things to blog about every week. Today is one of those days. My mind is blank!

Writing wise: I’m at the beginning of writing a new book in a new series (not ready to reveal much yet) and I’m gearing up to promote LUCKY STREAK (6/09) and LUCKY BREAK (10/09).

On a personal note, my youngest daughter’s Bat Mitzvah is on April 18th so I’m getting ready for a huge weekend of family and milestones, etc.

On a daily note, it’s Spring, which in NY means turbulent, inconsistent weather. It’s beautiful and warm … no it’s raining and cold! Ugh. I can’t wait for consistently warmer weather we can count on!

The dogs are good – Buddy is his mellow, happy self. Bailey is still nutty and anxiety ridden, but sweet. Except to Buddy whose toys she still steals.

In other words, life is NORMAL around here! So enough about me.
What’s new with all of you?

Carly

CarlyCarly Phillips would like to take 100% credit for all her stories but the truth is, Carly’s strength is writing family, emotion, funky elderly people and animals. She couldn’t plot her way out of a paper bag, which is why she smartly found her plotmonkey pals early on in her writing career. Thanks to their support, Carly is now a NYT Bestselling author of 23 plus novels. Because writing doesn’t keep her busy enough, Carly is also a wife, a mother of one preteen and one teenage daughter, the primary care giver of her soft coated Wheaten terrier and an expert carpool mom.

I am the most boring person on earth, so there’s not a lot going on with me. Just been reading, catching up on t.v. & movies (Next up is first season of “Burn Notice”), going out with friends. Nothing all that exciting, but I like the quiet life *g* My family is doing well, everyone’s healthy. Work is also going well, if a little slow. Life is good.

    Just seriously waiting on spring.

I am still recuperating from my road trip. The kid is home until Saturday when she re-descends on CA. We have spent the week going from dr. to dr. apt and her stealing my truck to visit her friends. And eating a lot!

We have our spring diningout on Saturday nite, which will keep my mind off her leaving again. And a big shopping trip to West Point on Sunday. Then back to normal on Monday with taking care of my elderly neighbor and work.

    Status quo is so boring.

I’m healthy and so is my family. Spike got great news from his doctor, we’ve been getting snow here in Denver so it isn’t so dry. Fire danger is way down. :cheer: We’re expecting a storm on Saturday. Lilly had a skating competition up at Vail this past weekend and won a Gold and a Bronze medal so that’s cool. Life is good.

The only negative is that my writing has ground to a halt but only temporarily. I’m working on it and expect to be producing pages at a steady rate very soon.

The boys are on Spring Break, so life is a little busier. I am enjoying myself (although oldest and youngest were up at 3:12 this morning, so I am a lot tired). Life is awesome…boys are doing well in school, no major things going on…love it! Busy season even wasn’t so bad. Now, if I could access my email, life would be grand!

Carly, I hear you on the weather! This is Oklahoma. Blizzard on Friday. Sixties degrees on Sunday. Patsy, I feel your wind! :rotfl1:

I a “lady in waiting” on my writing. Haven’t heard back from my editor on this round of revisions so I’m hoping it’s going to formatting, copy editing and galleys. :praying: I’ve finished a paranormal novella and trying to edit it before sending it to my CP. Not sure what I’m going to do with it. I’ve got the two Delta Ghost books to revise and polish for RWA, along with the first book in my Penumbra series (paranormal) to do a major revision on before it’s ready to pitch.

I need to get started on the “Find an Agent” process, too. :hide:

Not sure there’s enough :coffee: in the world. Personally, the DD is doing well after the latest round of eye surgery. The DH and I are taking a week and heading to Tampa/Lakeland for the air show and to visit friends. I’m excited!

    Have a great day!

WOW! Everyone is busy busy. Weather here in Vegas is just like everywhere else. Cold, Windy, Warm, Cold Windy through in a little rain every now and then.

Still waiting to hear on my last rounds of test. All this wind is killing me. In lots of pain. We really need to get this settled.

I have been watching Style Network and all the Clean House episodes, so I look around and think I really need to apply to that show.

I have been happier these past three days–love the extra sunshine.

The kids are great!!! Love being at the same school as them. DH is finally getting his act together and I am hopeful we will work this out afterall.

Finally, loving connecting with Silver and Ev more and more.

Wow! Lots about me. Sorry to be so narcirristic (sp?) this morning.

    Have a Thunderous Thursday!

    Hey All!

Everything is good on my end…although I am still in college and don’t have too much responsibility to fall victim to. I spent most of the last three weeks visiting family, and now I’m ready to get back on track with classes and park myself in the library until finals are over. I only have classes Monday through Thursday, so I’m about to enjoy a relaxing three day weekend.

I’m currently working on a contemporary romance for my Woman’s Writing Workshop. We have free reign on our three major assignments throughout the semester, so I decided to turn them into the first three chapters of a book. Chapter three is due tonight…and since I’m the world’s worst procrastinator…I better get *started* on it. :groan:

    Happy Thursday! :waving:

    <3 J

There is not a lot new with me! I seem to be busy, just not sure what it is that is keeping me busy!! :giggler:

My oldest daughter is graduating in June with her second degree. I am so proud of her. The past two years have been exceptionally busy for her with a family and going to school. She has done it! I’m looking forward to seeing her graduate, again! Each time is a moment that only a mother would understand. My buttons were busting when she graduated with her first degree this time will be even better as now she will have her kids watching also. Her husband was also there the first time, they became engaged later in the year and have been married for 20 years! Time flies.

Tuesday I had lunch with my oldest grandson, always fun. He hasn’t yet figured out what he wants to do but is planning on going back to the local junior college this fall. I am hoping he will be able to figure out what he wants so he has something specific to study for.

I am enjoying reading, our beautiful weather, the flowers and everything that spring brings except the pollen! The other day as I looked out my windshield while driving my car had a yellow film over it due to all the pollen flying around! This is not a good area to be in if you suffer allergies. So far mine are not much of a problem this year. It is different every year.

Hope you have not all been to bored with this mundane chattiness!! :zzzzz:

65 and breezy today with snow tonight. Welcome to Nevada.

Things in household are wild and wacky as usual. Hubby just finished singing his last performance until winter with the philharmonic. Time to re-djust the family roles. My oldest daughter is heading to Disneyland next week but her and her sister need to get through college mid terms this week. My youngest is trying to figure a way to get Mom and Dad to send her to Europe to visit one of her friends. Grandma is still the “Gladys Kravitz” (remember the neighbor on Bewitched) of the neighborhood. And the doctor wonders why I have high blood pressure. :drama:

My thesis is due tomorrow… I haven’t really started adapting it. I foresee an all nighter in my future. You’d think I’d be better about this considering it’s my third… but alas, no.

Well, since you asked… Hubby had an appointment at Duke today and the tumor is continuing to shrink!! He has 2 more rounds of chemo to do and then he’ll decide if he wants to continue for another 6 months.

The doctor said he’s doing so well, and is tolerating it so well, they’ll probably recommend he continue for the additional 6 months. They said that will knock even more if it out and will lessen the chances of it “reawakening” at some point in the future.

Thanks for letting me share the good news with you guys!

I was going to give the blogging a rest but since I discovered how much fun it is I cannot stop. My family is doing well with the exception of my dad but he is in recovery and should be well soon. I pretty much do my best to enjoy everyday. Except yesterday- the therapy dog threw up on me early in the morning  and it pretty much went down hill from there. luckily i just happened to have an extra outfit to change into. thank goodness. after work i went home and took a nap to sleep off the day! I am looking forward to spring even though the pollen will mess me up. I love all of the colors and fresh flower smells and birds chirping. I also love being able to sit outside and read.

Sounds like you are going to have a very busy April, Carly. I hope you have some fun with your daughter’s Bat Mitzvah.

As for me, there’s not much new here. The weather in Colorado is about as erratic as that in New York. We had snow yesterday just as the work day ended and it only lasted long enough to make rush hour nasty. All of that snow has already melted off since today was sunny and in the 50s. I’m enjoying the snow and looking forward to the storm we’re supposed to get this weekend.

    Hi Carly,

Colorado weather is the same this time of year. It seems like we are getting all of our snow this week though. This winter it has been 70 degrees one day and typical winter temps the next day. Wish spring would get here.

    Love your books!!!
