Saturday Guest Blogger…Stephen King
Julie Icon

Ha! Fooled ‘ya. Just want to say, that if Mr. King EVER wants to guest blog at Plotmonkeys, that he is more than welcome.

However, for today, we’ll have to settle for his absolutely brilliant book on writing that I think every writer should read (which you already know if you’ve been hanging out at Plotmonkeys for any amount of time.) BTW, if you’re “just as reader” as some of you are so fond of saying (although no one is “just” a reader to me…you’re a reader! Yeah!) this is a great book for you, too, because it talks so much about King’s life, struggles & influences. Really interesting, IMO.

Julie Leto

JulieBy all reports, Julie Leto was a sweet child once, somewhat shy, preferring to play quietly in her room making up stories. However, being raised with three brothers in a loud, primarily Italian household did have its influences and Julie discovered her inner tough girl. That’s probably why most of her heroines kick serious butt. Writing sassy heroines has worked out, as she’s sold over forty books to four publishers featuring strong, confident women. Julie lives in Florida with her daughter, a spoiled dachshund, a haughty lynx-point Siamese and a wide range of relatives all within driving distance.

I’ve been stalling on buying King’s book. If I win it, I’ll have no excuse not to read it.

How’d the shower go, Julie? Are you exhausted? Still want to see pics! Happy Saturday, everyone! :flowers4you:

Debbie, that’s awesome! Congratulations. I know you’re probably a little freaked, but my brother and his wife have twins and they are so much fun.

The tea planning is slow as I had to spend 3 hours in the ER last night because of a run-in with my mandolin. (vegetable slicer). Just call me Grace. Julia Child, clearly, I am not. I’m okay…no stitches (there is no skin to stitch) but it’s slowing me down this morning.

Be back later to tell you all how it went!

 Youre right the first words out of my mouth were “Steven King, WOW!” LOL

I would love to have this book! I found a good website that I would like to share with everyone too…It;s for writers and it tells the do’s and don’t's of writing and even gives help in getting your manuscript ready to submit and then how to find publishers and agents! It is a really helpful sight!

    Great news, Debbie!!!

Big ouch, Julie!!! Hope your finger heals quickly.

Don’t put me in the drawing, I already have it. But I have it as an audiobook which is fantastic. He does the reading himself which gives an extra little dose of humor and insight as he’s telling the stories.

Hope it’s a great weekend for everyone!!

Congratulations Debbie! Two little girls – that’s fantastic! :threecheers

Julie, take it easy with that hand of yours. Hopefully you’ll be back in full tea preparation mode soon.

I have numerous writing books that I’ve had to buy for my classes and I love adding to my collection. I’m curious to know if Stephan King’s book is genre specific…? – not that it matters cause all writing books lend great advise

    Happy Weekend Everyone!

    Congratulations, Debbie!!

I already have his book On Writing which is fabulous.

I was disappointed in Mr. King recently when he slammed several writers including Stephanie Meyer of Twilight fame, James Patterson…and others for reasons I can’t fathom.

    Have a great Saturday!

    Cher

I love Stephen King. I have most of his books. He was the only author that I would buy immediately in hardback. Unfortunately I really can’t do that any more so I have to have patience and wait for it to come in paperback.

Congrats Debbie! My niece has twin boys (and then she had 5 more kids after that lol).

    Hey guys…

I saw this book at the conference last year and almost picked it up…I probably should have…definitely count me in for this one…

I need to learn a lot more about writing if I am going to be a full-fledged writer…

Jules, you almost had me fooled with the title of the blog…I love his work…particularly Cujo…scariest movie I ever saw in my life…

I hope that everyone has a wonderful day today…

    Peace and love,
    Paula R.

I had the audio book at one point. Loved it and then passed it on to another writer. Hopefully King won’t find out about the lost royalties and kill me off in one of his books.
