WISH YOU WERE HERE!
Carly Icon

Yes, it’s Leslie’s blog day, but she’s out with a very nasty bout of flu so we switched days. :sicksick: She’ll be back on Thursday and hopefully will feel MUCH better. So, get well quickly, Les! :flower4you:

Unfortunately, I’m not technically here, either. As you know, I basically wrote the second half of LUCKY BREAK in the last three weeks. Luckily for me, we already had a family vacation planned. So I’m on a much needed break in Aruba. I brought a whole bunch of books with me and hopefully I left my brain back in New York. I hope you’re all having fun while I’m gone! I promise to be more present when I get home!

So … who has anything fun planned / coming up that you’re looking forward to? Vacation? Day off? Great book you can’t wait to read? Movie you want to see? Today’s about relaxation and fun!

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Warm wishes for a Happy Birthday go out to Plotmonkey pal Ev Ryan today! We hope you have a fabulous, fun-filled day!

Carly

CarlyCarly Phillips would like to take 100% credit for all her stories but the truth is, Carly’s strength is writing family, emotion, funky elderly people and animals. She couldn’t plot her way out of a paper bag, which is why she smartly found her plotmonkey pals early on in her writing career. Thanks to their support, Carly is now a NYT Bestselling author of 23 plus novels. Because writing doesn’t keep her busy enough, Carly is also a wife, a mother of one preteen and one teenage daughter, the primary care giver of her soft coated Wheaten terrier and an expert carpool mom.

    :happybd: Hey Ev, happy birthday!

I just saw “Slumdog Millionaire” yesterday and loved it. Sad in many ways, but also sweet and beautiful.

I’m reading Carolyn Jewel’s “Scandal” and it’s wonderful. Came highly recommended and so far I’m in total agreement. I have got an ARC of Lisa Kleypas’ “Smooth-Talking Stranger” – woo hoo! So, so, SO looking forward to that one.

    Thanks guys!!

I am spending my day taking my neighbor to the drs and he will take me to lunch and we always have a good time. We are going out to dinner some night this week with a couple of the kids. Just a quiet celebration.
Next year when I hit the big 5-0 will be another story! I’m not driving that night!

I am reading Brockmann’s new one, Dark of Night, on my Sony and just finished the ARC of Adrianna Trigiani’s Very Valentine, which I loved! I cant wait for the next one.

I am still fine tuning the road trip to CA. I leave in just 25 days! Wow! I still need to get new tires for her car, but they are sooo expensive!

Hope the weather is great Carly. We miss you.

I can’t wait for Promises in Death by JD Robb to come out next week! I was sick all day yesterday, so no reading for me. Just sleeping and praying I wouldn’t throw up. I feel much better now, so I’m thinking it was just a 24 hour bug. Last really fun book I read was Tangled Up in Love by Heidi Betts.

Happy Birthday, EV! :tinitime: :cake: :flower4you: :hug2:

Do I owe you an email? :scratch3:

Leslie, get well soon! There’s some nasty $h!+ going around this year. Carly, enjoy Aruba!

Books: I have a pile and there’s so many I can’t even start to list them, though I have all of Julie’s “witch” books in hand or coming, and I’m really looking forward to Jennifer Lyon’s book, Blood Magic, coming out next week.

Life: Just sent off the second book in my faerie trilogy to my editor and have my fingers crossed it will sell. I’m back to work on my Delta Ghost series now. Yay! Ev is dropping by on her way to Cali in March. I’m headed to Florida in mid-April with the DH, RWA Nationals in July, and we’re taking an 11-day cruise in January, 2010.

    Have a great day, all!

    Hi! Happy Birthday, Ev…

I went to a movie yesterday, so today, it’s back to the real world, which is totally fine (the real world is fine with me). The next couple of weeks are crazy…that’s how the end of the month is for me….

My next adventure is coming up at the end of the month…I’m going to Chucky Cheese…It’s my nieces’ birthday’s this month…both of them (their sisters). One just turned 3 and the other is going to turn 5 in a few days.

And shortly aftwards, I have a major apt witht he OB. I get to find out if I’m having boys, girls or one of each. But that won’t be until mid March. I’ll keep you posted.

Leslie, I hope you feel better.

Carly, Have fun in Aruba. I love tropical islands…though I haven’t visited many.

Oh Carly, I wish I was there too its a little chilly here in NY :freezeman and they even mentioned the “S” word in the forecast :boohoo: I am so ready for spring. I’ll repeat what I’ve been saying for weeks, “Stupid groundhog!”

:happybd: :present1:  I hope you enjoy your day!

My husband and I are trying to plan a weekend away, but I’ve learned not to get my hopes up because, something always comes up at the last minute and we can’t go, so we shall see.

    :partyman: Happy B-Day Ev!!! :cake:

Carly, I hope you’re having some much needed R&R, I’m so jealous of you right now…I’m not a fan of :rain and it’s been showering here for over a week now. (I know I’m complaining about rain when it’s snowing in other places – but I chose to be a West Coast girl for that reason)

Leslie, Feel Better! I’ve succeeded it not getting sick this season, but I have a feeling my time has come :sosad: Drink lots of water and orange juice – and get plenty of sleep

I have no vacations planned in the near future…spring break comes around mid March for me but I’ll probably just go home and visit the family. I just finished reading Never Too Much by Lori Foster and I’m now anxiously awaiting for a few books by a couple of the plotmonkeys that I ordered last week.

Have a great day everyone! Stay warm!

    Happy Birthday Ev! :happybd:

No trips planned this year because we’re on a tight budget. I just finished reading McKettrick’s Luck by Linda Lael Miller. It is always a treat to read one of her books. I love her voice and she is a master at characterization. I savor her stories and learn something at the same time.

Have a safe and wonderful trip, Carly

Karen, have a great vacation; Leslie, get well soon.

I’m really looking forward to Celebrate Romance ’09 on 2/27-3/1 in Janelle’s new home town, Portland, OR. I am not a big fan of Romance conferences, but, this small reader/writer one features friendly & intelligent readers (& writers), who cover all the genres, & I always learn so much about trends & new authors. But, mostly, it’s just so much fun to meet up with old friends, & make new ones. I never have a chance to get away, & because it is on the W.C. this year, am so glad I can make it.

    Patricia

Leslie I hope you get better quickly I have had the flu or systoms of it for two weeks now. I feel better except I get really tired and weak a couple times a day so I have not been able to work. Been to the doctors they took blood and other samples and they said all is okay. I even went to the heart doctor today and he doesn’t think it has anything to do there so not really sure what it is. Is anyone else having this problem? My husband works at a hospital here and he said he has seen a couple people like that at work they just can’t get better.
Carly I hope you are having a great time you deserve it, you work really hard getting out those great books.
:happybd: EV Hope you have a great day!!!!!!!!!

Leslie sorry to hear a flu bug got you. Take care, get well.

:present1: :cake: :happybd: Have a fun day Ev. I thought you were going to California this month!! Enjoy today. :flower4you:

Over the weekend I read Blazing Bedtime Stories. My TBR pile has Carly’s Secret Fantasy plus some other good choices. Yesterday I started Suzanne Brockmann’s latest paperback Into The Fire. Love this series she writes.

No real vacation plans for me! In June I am going to Oregon to see my oldest daughter graduate with her second degree. I can’t wait to see her & the two grandkids there. While in Oregon I will also visit other family & friends.

Well, tomorrow I’m supposed to be heading up to Winter Park for some awesome snowboarding for the next few days. However, I now have a funeral to attend and am trying to decide how that will work with my planned trip.

    :happybd: Happy Birthday, Ev!

Jessica- you must be out there in CA near my daughter. She is sick of the :rain too.

tina- I heard that nasty S word in the forcast today and wanted to crawl back under the covers til spring. I actually did get out today and get some of my Xmas stuff in since all the snow has melted. Now the yard is like a mud pit. I can’t win. :wallbanger

Debbie-TWINS!?!?!?! :yikes: Can’t wait to hear!

Silver- I don’t know whose turn it is. I still haven’t made a hotel reservation there. i guess i need to get back on the trip planning, don’t I? maybe you’ll have an ARC of the first book by the time I get there?
You know, something for me to read while you are playing with me Sony and my iTouch? :rotfl1:

    :happybd: Ev!!

    Get well soon, Leslie!!

Hope you’re having a wonderful vacation, Carly!

I’ve just gotten back from vacation myself. Hubby and I (along with my step-dad and another couple) spent last Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Daytona for Speedweeks and the Daytona 500!! Unfortunately, it was rain shortened – again! In the 51 year history of the Daytona 500 it’s only been rain shortened 4 times. And I’ve been there for 2 of them.

We made an announcement on the bus, going back to our car, that we wouldn’t be there next year and that all the regular ticket holders were safe from rain for another couple of years. :rotfl1:
