We hope you all had a very happy, healthy New Year’s Eve and we wish you a wonderful 2009.
And to get the year started right, I’m reposting Julie’s Resolutions post:
From Julie last week with some tweaks:
It’s that time of the year, to think about our (writing) resolutions for the year. Then in six months, I’m going to copy the comments section and post it, to see how well we’ve all done with our resolutions. Sound like fun? OK writers can post writing related resolutions and others can post regular resolutions!
JULIE: My resolution is to stick to my writing schedule. This sounds easy, I suppose, since I managed to do it this year from July through October. But then I stopped because A) I met my deadlines and B) life got in the way. Well, chances are life is still going to be shoving itself into my face starting next week and deadlines will be met…so I need to keep to my schedule no matter what. My schedule will be different depending on what’s due, but my first starts next week when I edit a novella I finished a few months ago. Oh, and I resolve to update my website.
KAREN: I resolve to get into a writing schedule that lets me write weekly and build up page count and keep momentum in a story; to write even when life gets in the way!
JANELLE: Starting after I meet with my Plotmonkey buddies for our annual plotting retreat in ONE WEEK, I resolve to set a daily/weekly schedule for myself, and stick to it. :dominatrix: I’m also resolved to getting healthy (again) with diet and exercise and lose the 60+ lbs I’ve gained as a result of all the stress of the past year.
Leslie: I’m going to stop acting like I’m Superwoman. I always tend to take on too much, to put myself under tremendous pressure. I’m going to start trying to be more realistic about what I can do, and when I can get it done. And to start saying NO to the stuff I really just can’t!

Carly Phillips would like to take 100% credit for all her stories but the truth is, Carly’s strength is writing family, emotion, funky elderly people and animals. She couldn’t plot her way out of a paper bag, which is why she smartly found her plotmonkey pals early on in her writing career. Thanks to their support, Carly is now a NYT Bestselling author of 23 plus novels. Because writing doesn’t keep her busy enough, Carly is also a wife, a mother of one preteen and one teenage daughter, the primary care giver of her soft coated Wheaten terrier and an expert carpool mom.

Happy New Year!
May it be bigger and brighter than 2008. I’m not big on resolutions anymore, but I always try to improve on myself in some way (which hardly ever works LOL) – be nicer to people, be more generous and giving, get healthier, save more money, stuff like that. The saving money actually has been working for me, so I treat myself a little.
There you go. Treat yourself more in 2009. You all work hard and deserve it :)

Last spring, there was a *meme* floating around Live Journal – 100 Things You Want to Do Before You Die. One of mine was actually coming up with 100 things. When one is older than dirt, sometimes finding stuff you want to do that you haven’t already is tough. I went back and checked the list. I’ve marked off 7 things, and will be able to mark of 8 once my book is released. That’s almost one a month.
One of the items on the list said simply: 99. Never actually mark off every single thing on this list…there should always be something left to be done and enjoyed. So that’s my resolution for this year. Oh, and in case anyone wonders? Number 100 was: Celebrate my 100th birthday. I have 45 years to go!
Happy New Year’s!
May 2009 bring health, wealth and the wisdom to appreciate both.

I’m going to set up a writing a schedule and stick to it. I’m going to figure out how to sneak in more writing when I didn’t plan on it to eek out more writing time. I need to finish losing the 20lbs I didn’t get to lose at the end of the year due to life. And then there’s finding a job or sugar daddy who can support my book and writing habit.

I love New Year’s Day, it’s my favorite day of the year! It’s just full of so much promise!
Writing wise – My goals are pretty much like everyone else’s. I’ve got a writing plan and I’m sticking to it. No matter what crazy things life throws at me, I will stick to it and write when I’m supposed to write.
Personally, I’m going to lose the 30+ extra pounds that I’ve put on in the past year and a half. I had dreams I was eating Hostess Ho-Ho’s last night!
I think my subconscience has gotten the message – no more junk food!
I hope everyone has a fantastic day and an incredibly wonderful 2009!!!

Happy New Years everyone!
My biggest goal is to get healthy this year. I need to lose at least 50 pounds and get back on a regular schedule at the gym. I also need to really de-clutter my house. I need to empty out my storage unit to make room to move stuff I need to keep out of my house. Most of the stuff in my unit I haven’t seen since I moved into my apt 5 years ago. I also have tons of books and plan on giving away those I’ve read and don’t plan on reading again. I also got the Sony ereader, so I could reduce the number of books in my house, without missing out on any books. I love it, I already have both Julie’s and Leslie’s new Blazes on my reader.

Happy New Year to everyone…I hope that you all had a wonderful celebration yesterday.

My only goal for this year is to focus on what’s important- stay positive and happy even when life is handing you a straightjacket with a one way ticket to the loony bin. It just seems like I have been letting outside influences dominate how I function and I don’t like that. Life happens but my choices shouldn’t be reactive- I can’t control everything but I can control my choices.

I need to get back on my low sodium diet (and kidney happy diet…that’s what I call it:)). I also want to stop yelling….I get tired of it. Watch out, boys, more time outs! I also want to do a monthly date with hubby (unfortunately, this is dependent on hubby’s schedule and he isn’t good about making a date). I haven’t figured out what my ‘out of the box’ activity is going to be this year….

Leslie, here is the review:
Blazing Bedtime Stories (4 1/2) by Kimberly Raye, Leslie Kelly and Rhonda Nelson
In this light, entertaining anthology, Cupid, known as Lover Boy, must increas the number of humans in love. He works his magic on three women featured on the web site KissMyAssCupid.com, where the theme is “love stinks”. Taye’s “Once upon a Bite” continues the story of Matt Keller. The werewolf is now half-vampire, and his quest for happiness leads him to beauty consultant Shay Briggs. Kelly’s “My, What a Big…You Have” finds children’s writer Scarlett Templeton traveling down a dark road in the middle of the bayou and getting lost in another dimension. Luckily, she’s rescued by huntsman Hunter Thibodaux. And in Nelson’s “Sexily Ever After, artist Juliet Swann realizes she isn’t the ugly duckling of the family when she finds love with landscape artist Garth Harper. Totally entertaining, emotionally satisfying and very sexy, this is a super-strong book.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! I hope you are all having a good day. It is sunny & lovely here in my part of northern California. Soon I am getting out for my walk. I know I’ll be walking for the next 10 days as I am going to be dog/cat/house sitting! The dog doesn’t have to be walked by me today as his owners have a night flight! Today it is just me!!
Years ago I gave up making resolutions. That said I do want to loose some weight this year as the scale at the doctors office shocked me into reality! My scale is old and I know it isn’t accurate but it has been lying more than I thought!! Since my age is showing somewhat I just want to stay as healthy as possible!
Silver, you are to young to be “older than dirt”!! I’m older than you!! 8O
Great review on the upcoming Blaze, thanks Cher for posting it for us.
Everyone enjoy the day! I woke up early and decided to get up to watch the Rose Parade, it was beautiful! Now I am ready to get moving then come home to read more of Julie’s Phantom’s Touch which is very good so far. :flower4you:

Happy New Year to all!
Common thread/Bond seems to be the writing for the Plotmonkeys.
It sure must be hard with family and life issues always there.
I can’t even write a letter with others around. Dood Luck though
’cause I sure love your books
Janelle…I have had the worst year (08) for health issues from the
broken arm/shoulder/rotator cup to heart to eye difficulties.
Oh yeah and the weight trust me I have you beat on the gain.
In 2009 I will be 65. I intend to lose the weight and eat healthier too.
Exercise is going to be a must. I need to approach the rest of my life
with a LESS STrEsSfUl life. So I guess I’ll have to add Leslie’s no
SuperWoman to that too. Wow that is some resolution lol.

Donna M., I’m usually the oldest person around so it’s fun to be here among “contemporaries.”
Dang it, Cher! After that review, I’m going to have to get Leslie’s book for my TBR pile now. I just finished Heated Rush and Phantom’s Touch. They both are made of much AWESOMENESS!
I took the week between Christmas and New Year’s off. Tomorrow, I’ve got to “get back in the saddle” with my writing.
I’ve only had three more ideas for plots, and a title without a plot (which will come eventually). :wallbanger
Hope everyone had a sane and save New Year’s Eve and Day!

I’m not going for the weight loss so much as to get exercise. Maybe then I won’t sabotage myself. :givethanks
And to get back to reading. I found out I had 7 boxes of books when we moved! :yikes:
And to continue therapy to erase my demons.
And to find peace with my teenage daughter. :angryred
