All I Want For Christmas (Holidays)
Janelle Icon

Normally, my husband and I don’t exchange Christmas gifts. We figure that we usually get whatever we want/need throughout the year, and there is already so much stress involved with Holiday shopping (not to mention all the money we spend on other people and our kids) that not having to worry about shopping for each other alleviates some of that stress.

However, we both definitely have “want” lists of things we’d like to eventually have. And today I thought it would be fun for all of us to be a little selfish and post the one thing you’d love to receive as a gift for whatever holiday you celebrate this month. Don’t be practical or sensible — today is all about YOU and what you WANT if you could have anything your heart desires.

For me, it’s a Coach purse I’ve been eye-balling since this summer. It’s blue denim and leather, with the signature Coach “C’s”. I just love the style, and it’s something that I’d really like to have — with the matching wallet, LOL. Yes, I know how expensive this purse is, which is why I don’t currently own it, but covet it instead! :giggler

Okay, your turn. I want to know the one thing that is on the top of your “I want” list this holiday season! It’s all in good fun, so indulge and spoil yourself! :winking:

JUST FOR FUN — it snowed this weekend where we live in Oregon, all day on Sunday! Coming from Southern California, this is the first snowfall for the Denison family and we were so excited! In fact, Kellie has her first ever “snow day” off from school today, LOL. Here’s a picture of our back yard:

Janelle

JanelleJanelle Denison finds it hard to believe that it’s been nearly 25 years since she first started writing romance novels. At first, it was a way to pass idle time while her husband worked swing shift, but before long it became an obsession to get published. Luckily, she kept at it (it took her over 5 years to get that first book published!) and is now a Waldenbooks, Barnes & Noble, and USA Today Bestselling author! Now, after selling over 45 plus novels, she finds that her Plotmonkey pals help to keep her stories fresh and unique, and she can’t imagine writing a story without their input. Janelle lives in Oregon with her husband, Don, along with two teenage daughters that keep life interesting.

There are several items at the top of my list. Like Margay, I wouldn’t mind a Kindle. But also a car starter especially on a day like today when the temps probably won’t get out of the teen’s. :freezin Or, if not that, a really nice GPS since I have a tendency to get a little lost.

Well the ice is melting and falling off the trees. Many though are still without power, thankfully we have had our since Friday. Supposed to be in the 50′s today which will help.

We are like you guys- we usually buy what we want. I did get hubby the booklight cover for his Sony eReader though.

I have a Kindle on backorder- I want to compare it to my Sony (I have the new one). I haven’t decided if I like it or not since it sucks a lot of power when you have the light on. His uses batteries for the light, which I think is better.

Stacy- I tend to use my carstarter more in the summer. :rotfl1: I can handle the cold (I usually have to clean the car off anyway), but I hate getting into a hot car. Besides then I can travel with the dogs and they keep cool.

As for on my wish list- a new kitchen and bathroom. Think santa can put them under the tree?

    :grin1:

I’m actually a big kid on Christmas…I want a LOT of presents. :cooldance: So I don’t usually want one “big” thing, I’d rather have a bunch of little stuff–cd’s, videos, books. I’d be pretty sad if I came down Christmas morning and found one beautiful piece of jewelry under the tree…I’d rather have a big pile of little stuff…lol!

Glad you’re enjoying the snow Janelle. I have a really funny e-mail about a couple enjoying the first snowfall…then it goes into the 2nd and the 3rd…and it talks about shoveling snow and the car getting buried by the snowplow on the street. :rotfl1: It’s absolutely hilarious and so true to anyone who has ever lived through a really long, miserable Northern winter.

If I’m wishing for “whatever” I want…I want our new house! Our plans for building hit a snag but I think we’re finally starting to get back on the track and thinking that way. It would be wonderful for Santa to bring it and we can skip the stress of building!

    Have a great week, everyone!!

I am dying for a Kindle! I have easily over a thousand books and they are taking up a TON of room. It would be nice to be able to download and read a book whenever I want and not have to worry about space.

I would love, love, love a Kate Spade purse (although, I love that Coach purse, maybe, I will have to check it out!). I haven’t found one I love. I would also love a Wii…even my husband’s secretary and subordinates were trying to talk him into getting on at the Christmas party Saturday night (I see such benefits especially with our oldest).

Girlfriend, stay safe. How’s the wind down there? The wind up here is unbearable…..we don’t have a lot of snow (although, I am sure it is on the hills in our district), but there is ice, I think we’re going to blow away (we typically have the Gorge winds). :freezin :freezin :freezin :rain :rain

All of my facebook MOMS are laying bets on who is going to lose power (yey, and with the kids home from school).

If you are in the PNW (or anywhere), stay safe and warm. Stay home. Grab a hot cocoa. Don’t go out (yes, my hubby is going to work, is he crazy or what?).

Janelle, my DD can so hook you up on the Coach purses. She found the outlet store in Branson, MO. :rotfl1:

I’ve thought about this through my whole first cup of coffee. I have just about everything I could ask for or want. My DH calls me *simple* – I ASKED for a new vacuum cleaner for Christmas one year. I guess…maybe…the big Kitchenaid heavy duty mixer that’s like 600 watts? What I reallyreallyreally want is to make that sale at Silhouette (though even if I don’t, at least I did something right enough to get the full manuscript looked at!)

My life is pretty blessed at the moment…WAIT! I DO KNOW WHAT I WANT! Maid service for life! NO more cleaning house or doing laundry! w00t! :snoopy:

Love the picture, Janelle. I’m glad you’re enjoying your first snow. :-)

    Great purse too!

It is minus 10 degrees here this morning. We had a whopping high of 3 degrees yesterday and snow over the weekend. We have snow coming in for tonight and tomorrow. Brrr!!

As far as a Christmas indulgence just for me–In the remake of A Thomas Crown Affair a few years ago, in this one scene Rene Russo wore this gorgeous white coat that I later found out was made by Michael Kors. I have coveted that coat ever since and have searched for a knock off. Alas, to no avail. So if I could I’d love to have that coat.

    Have a great day,

    Cher

Like you I rarely see any form of snow I live in South Georgia. It has been 18 years since we have seen any of the white stuff.

As far as something I dream of for Christmas. I can’t think of a thing.

We went from the ice storm to over 50 today. Go figure.

I was just discussing the ereader (again) with my daughter. I haven’t decided if I am going to keep the Sony one (the 700, new one). The battery is such a power hog with the light on. It will depend on how it works while we are on vacation. Then I will just wait for my kindle to show up. I wouldn’t mind one of the mini laptops to read from. They aren’t that much bigger, just a little bulkier since you can’t fold them over.

What I really want is my pistol permit. :rotfl1: I used to shoot competitively in the guard and didn’t need to have one since I was always under orders. Now I miss being able to go to the range without having someone with me. It’s a great stress reliever.

janelle- what collection is that coach bag from? I am such a shoe and bag ho (per my daughter). Hubby just calls me Imelda. I need a seperate suitcase for shoes when we go on vaca. :cooldance:

There are some interesting “wishes” here!

I think if I could have anything it would maybe be a new HDTV or a new stereo or maybe a flat screen monitor for my computer. Since my budget is small I could wish for a lot of things!! Mostly I just want to keep healthy, enjoy my daughters & grandchildren as often as possible.

We are having cold (cold for here) with snow levels down very low (again for here). I’m thinking about taking a drive to see if I can see any snow but the clouds may be to low. The visibility out my window is limited as our building sits kind of low. There is some snow in the San Francisco & Oakland area where it is such a big novelty! :freezin :freezeman We did get rain yesterday which is much needed, it was wonderful. :rain The temperature now is a balmy 44, cloudy with sun trying to come out, more rain & cold coming our way & even lower snow levels!! :freezin

Great blog Janelle, enjoy the snow.

The name of purse is “Coach Denim Bleecker Purse”. I don’t know if it’s still on the website or not since it’s more of a summer purse, but I’m sure you can find it on Ebay, and for a lot cheaper, too!

Lauren — I had to gas up the vehicle this morning after dropping my daughter off at work at 6AM. Nice thing for Oregonians is that it’s against the law for you to pump your own gas! A gas attendant has to do it for you, so you can stay in a nice warm, cozy car while someone else stands out in the freezing cold filling up your vehicle! :rotfl1:

Okay, I shouldn’t laugh at that, and I even apologized for making the attendant come out of the warmth of the inside of the place, and he just smiled and said “that’s my job”. He gets extra karma points for that comment!

Wow there are so many things I could think of, since we are supposed think or dream big. I would love to have a new Kitchen and a laundry room upstairs. I love to cook and would love to have a kitchen where I could really get some done and could entertain at the same time. And I don’t like going downstairs to do laundry I have an old house and the steps are terrible. And the biggest I would love to have a month off from work and get paid and have a vacation in Disney world……… That was dreaming big. But down to earth I just want good health and for everyone to enjoy each other it seems like there is so much hate in the world and I would like that to stop.

Janelle (and everyone else in this PNW blast), stay out of it (I know and we’re going in it). We live at about 250 feet and our snow has stuck around, but we didn’t have a lot of it, most of it is blowing around (the Gorge winds are killing us!). It’s not really snow anymore, it’s ice. We’re supposed to have more on Wednesday. I loved snow days when I taught, now not so much.

It was hard to think of one, Janelle, but I’d have to go with an all-inclusive trip to Ireland where I got to visit all of the wonderful castles scattered throughout that country. I toured the Southwest with my parents four years ago and I can’t wait to go back.
