In just two weeks, many of us will be shuttling off to San Francisco for the Romance Writers of America National Conference. The Plotmonkeys will probably use that week to post excerpts of our works in progress (as we’ve done for the last couple of years) but Saturday poses a problem. Most of the authors we’d ask to come and guest blog will be at the conference. We could use the day to report on all the conference scuttle-butt, but the problem is…well, the Plotmonkeys don’t really “go” to the conference. We hole up in our normally adjoining rooms and plot! We’ve got our schedule already going and for the most part, outside of the Literacy signing on Wednesday night, we won’t be out and about much during the day until Friday.
So…we’re looking for some of our Plotmonkey readers to be reporters for the conference! We just need a couple of people to email us reports (we’ll have email in the hotel) of the actual conference itself. We’ll need the emails by Friday morning so we can post them for Saturday.
If you’re interested, send me (julie at julieleto dot com) a photograph of you sometime in the next two weeks and let me know you’ll be a “reporter.” We’ll post your photo and your report (doesn’t need to be longer than 200 words) for all our readers to see. Interesting idea? Hope some of you will come through!
And to get people really excited about San Francisco, I’m offering a signed copy of my book, EXPOSED! This was a book that launched the Blaze series, as well as the Sexy City Nights miniseries and it’s set in San Francisco, where the city is as much a character as the characters, IMO. The contest isn’t just for those people who are going to be reporters…it’s for anyone who comments (as long as they live in the US)! Winner announced tomorrow!

By all reports, Julie Leto was a sweet child once, somewhat shy, preferring to play quietly in her room making up stories. However, being raised with three brothers in a loud, primarily Italian household did have its influences and Julie discovered her inner tough girl. That’s probably why most of her heroines kick serious butt. Writing sassy heroines has worked out, as she’s sold nearly thirty books to three publishers featuring strong, confident women. Julie lives in Florida with her husband, daughter, spoiled dachshund, enormous guinea pig and a wide range of relatives all within driving distance.

The four launch books were written by Vicki Lewis Thompson, Stephanie Bond, Kimberly Raye and me. August 2001. What an honor it was to be a part of this event, let me tell you! I had actually already sold EXPOSED as a Temptation, but Brenda saw the potential for it to be a Blaze and I replotted it, adding a suspense thread that took the book over the top, IMO. It’s one of my favorites and I’m so glad to be able to share it with someone who hasn’t previously read it. I might even re-read it. It’s been years since I’ve been to San Francisco, but researching that book was a BLAST. I also wrote Blaze #100 and Stephanie has just contracted to write Blaze #500! I’m really happy for how the line has grown and that I’ve always been a part of it.

Cher! Thanks for being a reporter! To be honest, we were already counting on you.

I’ll be there for the book signing & am hoping to meet all the Plotmonkeys. I am staying overnight, going back home on Thursday so guess I could report something!! I’m not attending any meetings just hoping to get to meet a few authors & get the books signed. A picture of me!! Now that is a challenge! I have pictures of grandkids & scenery but don’t take pictures of myself & my camera is not digital but I do have pictures on CD’s to put on the computer.
Have a good Saturday everyone.

As much as I would like to attend the conference in San Francisco and meet all the wonderful authors and be a reporter it isn’t going to happen.
Too far and too expensive. :wallbash: But I would like to win your Blaze.

Donna! We would love to have you report on the time you’re there! As for a picture…if it’s too much trouble, you don’t have to, but I really think the plotmonkey readers would love to put a name and face together. Thanks so much for volunteering! And Cher, too! If anyone else wants to, please send! Even if the contest is over tomorrow, we still want more reporters!
