Carly
Carly Phillips would like to take 100% credit for all her stories but the truth is, Carly’s strength is writing family, emotion, funky elderly people and animals. She couldn’t plot her way out of a paper bag, which is why she smartly found her plotmonkey pals early on in her writing career. Thanks to their support, Carly is now a NYT Bestselling author of 23 plus novels. Because writing doesn’t keep her busy enough, Carly is also a wife, a mother of one preteen and one teenage daughter, the primary care giver of her soft coated Wheaten terrier and an expert carpool mom.Email this author | All posts by Carly

I followed my tradition of putting flowers on my grandparents’ graves. I was really close to my grandpa, so it’s very important to me that I went. I always find myself kneeling in front of his headstone and talking to him as if he were right there. To me that was special and it helps me keep feeling blessed. I hope everyone else’s weekend was wonderful too.

My brother and I bought tickets for us and our parents for the Saturday night baseball game (Detroit Tigers) Two of our friends went too. So much fun with all the people downtown Detroit that night, Hockey people, Basketball people and Baseball people!

We spent the weekend with hubby’s family and all their kids. The one set came up from NYC. We rode Thomas the Tank with the twins and spent all day yesterday doing everything Thomas.
I know all the kids will be stopping at the cemetary where their mother is buried and then heading to a big playground before they leave so they can tire the twins out.
Today daughter and I are heading to Syr and we will stop at the cemetary and visit daddy. Then we are taking mom to see Ironman.
This is the first year in a long time I haven’t marched in the parade here at home.

I spent the time taking care of my sister and her family. She was in the hospital all last week and her husband had his final surgery on his foot on Friday. I drove down on Friday morning and took care of laundry, buying groceries for the family, and had her girls help out around the house and with the grocery shopping. Plus, yesterday was their 17th anniversary, so I got them a special dinner on Saturday night, since neither one was up for leaving the house. Today I hope to get to spend time with some friends after taking care of my house.

We went to my nephew’s graduation ceremony up at Red Rocks on Saturday. It was so gorgeous with the bluest sky. The acoustics are phenomenal. One of the graduates played a Mandolin, a song that he wrote. It was amazing!
Then we wll went out to lunch which was really nice. Today, my nephew is having a big graduation party at his house up in Evergreen so we’re going up there for that. It’s overcast with a 40 percent chance of rain. We hope it will hold off for a while, plus it’s only 50 degrees. :-) But I love it when it’s cool. Peter told his dad this morning that in addition to the 40 people he had invited, he invited everybody at the “7″ parties he went to after graduation on Saturday. :giggle:
Today is a day for remembering those who gave their life for us so we can sleep peacefully at night without fear of an invader breaking into our home and pulling us from our warm beds to be taken off somewhere and never heard from again.
They stand on a wall, armed to the teeth ready to defend against any one who might want to do us harm.
I salute all of our brave men and women around the world who defend democracy and freedom.
I think today, as Alicia said is a day for feeling blessed with family and friends. I’m so blessed to have my husband and daughter, a strong roof over our heads and food on the table.
I also feel blessed to hang out in the jungle for a bit each day with the plotmonkeys and friends.
Carly, Julie, Leslie and Janelle are definitely four special blessings in my life.
Take care, stay safe and have a blessed and wonderful Memorial Day!

It is a day to remember the war veterans and all they did for our country. My nephew is over in Iraq. I pray for his safety.
My girlfriend and I did a shopping fun day on Saturday. Then we went to the movies and saw “Indiana Jones & the Crystal Skull”. We loved it!
Sunday, my husband and I went to the Heston Steam Museum and rode all the trains. We rode the little 7 1/2 gauge train and it derailed out in the woods! It was shocking and funny at the same time! We also rode the medium size train and the big train. We spent the day visiting with friends and Society of Automotive members. We had a picnic there. We had a blast!
Happy Memorial Day to everyone!

Honey and I drove up north of Houston to The Woodlands to visit with son #2 and
his family. I got to cuddle with the newest member of the family: 5 week-old
grandson, Jude!
On this Memorial Day, I wish to honor all who have served this country in years
and conflicts past. I also send thanks and blessings to those who currently are
in service and to the families who wait for their safe return.

Wow, Cher, I wish my graduation had been at Red Rocks. I absolutely lover that place.
As for my weekend, it consisted of my graduation party that my brother and parents insisted on. I’m glad it happened, though, because some of my friends that I don’t get to see very often came over and hung out for a couple of hours. I also went to the movies with some friends the following afternoon.
The whole time, I was aware of the fact that none of that could’ve happened if it weren’t for the men and women in our armed services who are willing to fight to allow us all the freedom to do stuff like that.
