I don’t mind the bare-chested man on covers, but I wouldn’t like it if it doesn’t reflect the tone of the book. (I won’t hold it against the author, but I may be a bit disappointed if I wanted to read a sexy and/or hot read, but it’s tame or something. Does that make sense?)

He is back to perky and doing great. He has adjusted to wearing the cone collar. We took the pain patch off last Saturday so he’s off drugs now. And he gets his stitches out next Thursday. So everything is good. :-)

I don’t have a problem with a bare-chested guy on romance covers – I personally prefer them with some hair on their chest rather than the baby smooth chests that are so popular. I’m a little reluctant to pull out a sexy cover or provocative title at my desk at work, however – I do have a book cover that I put on those that require a little more discretion!

I buy a book by author not by the cover – so considering the four of you are already in my favor…I try not to pay to much attention to the cover cause sometimes that picture doesn’t match with the author’s description of the hero or my perception of him.

Hi Carly. The new covers are great, however, I actually prefer the illustrated covers because it leaves more the the imagination. The trailer that you had on myspace for Seduce Me was good, but when I read the book that’s not at all how I pictured Mallory, and it kind of disrupted my vision of the characters. Anyway, regardless of that fact, your books still rock! :)

Personaly I love the hot new cover trend, but as a kindergarten teacher who loves to read on my lunch break. I have a cover (Janelle’s leopard print bookcover) because I never know who is going to come into my room unanounced. Think principal. I think I would sink through the floor if that ever happened. I also like the partial face, It’s easier to imagine the hero without the cover that sometimes just doesn’t match. And it’s a plus for sales. If I didn’t already love Carly’s books I would pick the book up in the store to read more.

I’m a throwback to the clinch cover days. But I can say that I love to see a bare chested guy! And if he’s headless (or halfway), it’s all the better for the reader to fantasize using their man of the moment.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m all about girl power, but with the tide of sexiness in the market, I think the manly covers will appeal more. After all most women are reading for the hero. (Though there is a time and place for a fun & flirty female cover…though in the current market those tend to seem mainstream or dare I say it, chick lit.)
If readers think they’re too racy (like the clinches of old) that’s what book covers were made for!!
