American Idol Recap
Janelle Icon

Okay, I just want to cry. :boohoo: I just spent the past hour on a big long post recapping American Idol this season, my favorites and why they’re my favorites, who I want to win and why (all the while saving my post as I did this), and then I hit “publish” to get the blog lined up to post in the morning and POOF, it completely and totally disappeared. Everything in the post — GONE. I’m devastated. And it’s 11 PM at night and I’m exhausted and upset and there’s no way I can recreate that post when it took me an hour to get it just so. :hissyfit:

So, I sincerely apologize for this shortened version of what once was a big, long blog on this season of American Idol. That said, for those of you who watch American Idol, who do you want to win? I’m rooting for David Cook!

Janelle

JanelleJanelle Denison finds it hard to believe that it’s been nearly 25 years since she first started writing romance novels. At first, it was a way to pass idle time while her husband worked swing shift, but before long it became an obsession to get published. Luckily, she kept at it (it took her over 5 years to get that first book published!) and is now a Waldenbooks, Barnes & Noble, and USA Today Bestselling author! Now, after selling over 45 plus novels, she finds that her Plotmonkey pals help to keep her stories fresh and unique, and she can’t imagine writing a story without their input. Janelle lives in Oregon with her husband, Don, along with two teenage daughters that keep life interesting.

Oh Janelle, I’m sorry that happened. I know the frustration when blogger does the same thing to me. Very frustrating.

I don’t watch AI, so it doesn’t make much of a difference to me *g*

I know the feeling too. We have a small group (most of them are behind me time wise) that I do a recap of each Idol show for and sometimes it just frigging disappears on me.

On that note, I was happy to see Brooke finally go home. She should have gone last week, not Carlee, but the I think Carlee is happy at this point- as she said no more theme weeks.

I love David Cook. He can turn anything into a rock hit and, like Daughtry, I am enjoying watching him. I haven’t decided if I want him to win or come in second. I know there are some who think winning it is the only prize, but other than Carrie Underwood and to some extent Kelly, look who is actually making it big. And by not winning they get to do what they want, when they want, not what Idol execs tell them they have to do. Carrie has been very lucky and I love her.

Did you know Phil Stacey’s self titiled album came out this week? It was already climbing the charts before it was released. The first single is very good.

Did you see Connie and Ace in the audience last night? I understand, per Heather, that they are working together on an album. I love Kelly Pickler. She always cracks me up.

But yes David C. is my fave, but maybe let David A. win and they, and daddy, can mold him. Let David C. be who he is and sing what he wants not the crap they come up with to get an album out while their names are still in the publics mind. :soapbox:

I think Jason Castro should have gone home. He doesn’t care and doesn’t even try anymore, but as long as it wasn’t David Cook, I’m OK with it.

I don’t watch AI, but I do get sucked into the occasional You Tube version and I have to say publicly that SHAME ON THE AMERICAN PUBLIC for sending home the girl who sang JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR because they didn’t understand the context of the song. Maybe this is true and maybe it isn’t, but I’m outraged if that’s the case–that people “offended” by a song sent her home even though her performance was absolutely amazing. That’s a hard song to sing…the range is all over the place…and she handled it spectacularly. I also heard people didn’t like her tatoos. Whatever. She’s an awesome singer and I hope she goes far.

From what I’ve heard, I think David Cook should be the winner, but I’ve been burned too many times by reality tv to actually watch and put my own emotions at stake. I prefer to watch in re-runs after I already know who won! I do that now with Top Chef and Project Runway after being burned so badly in the past. I’m still not over Jeffrey winning over Laura or Uli. And it’s been two seasons!

Janelle, I’m so sorry that your post went “poof”. That is soooo frustrating especially when you’ve said what you want to say in exactly the way you want to say it.

I don’t watch American Idol, except maybe for 30 seconds or so when I’m cruising the channels. So I have no clue who David Cook is. Sorry.

Spike is doing really well. He has to wear one of those cone collars which he doesn’t like but who would. They put on a pain patch so he isn’t in pain and he’s eating and drinking. He gets his stiches out in 2 weeks. It’s certainly shocking to see where his right eye used to be stitched closed. My poor little doll. Last night I asked my husband if he thought we had done the right thing or was it selfishness on my part to want my boy around for a few more years.

    Have a good day,

    Cher

I’ve only seen a few episodes of AI this year, but I really like David Cook. I hope he wins and if he does, they let him pick his own music. He is so amazing and much like Daughtry totally rocks(saw Daughtry in concert last Thursday with Bon Jovi)! Brooke should have been gone weeks ago as should Jason Castro. I really like Carlee too, but think people were turned off by her tatoos. She has an incredible voice(as she proved last week and every week before) and I hope she gets a record deal out of her time on Idol.

Janelle sorry to hear about your lost post. I’ve been there and it’s very aggravating. I think David Cook should win. I felt so bad for Brooke last night. Although I don’t see her as the next idol, she definitely should be there longer than Jason Castro. I’m rooting for David Cook!

That is such a good point, Ev! I think that David Cook is the next Chris Daughtry and I LOVE Daughtry. Their CD truly ROCKED. And you’re right about the fact that IF Cook should win they might “restrain” him. On the other hand, David Archuleta, who is a VERY talented singer, could use the guidance and is young enough that being “shaped” wouldn’t hurt him.

And man, I so wanted Jason Castro to GO HOME. He brings nothing original to the show. It’s so obvious that he’s getting the TWEEN vote, and how scary would it be if HE won the show?!?

And yes, it was time for Brooke to go home. I really liked her — she seems so sweet, but she’d run her course.

And my biggest rant is having Michael Johns (the Aussie) being voted off so soon in the competition. I was so hoping that it would be him and David Cook in the finale. But alas, I did not vote, so I can’t complain!

Cher — it’s not selfish of you to want a few more good years with your baby. Other than his eye, he seems healthy and happy — and I’m sure HE’S happy to be with you! You did the right thing and I’m happy to hear that the surgery went well and Spike is doing good! Before long, I’m sure he’ll be back to his old frisky self! :dog:

I LOVE AMERICAN IDOL. It’s my (not so secret) secret obsession. If you’ve never seen the Idolotry section on ew.com it’s a MUST.

I love David Cook…he’s really coming into his own. Plus, you HAVE to love that he’s a “word nerd” like I’m sure many of us are too. I really hope he wins.

I truly, madly, deeply enjoy Jason. Probably b/c my favorite artist is Jack Johnson, and Jason has that same time of vibe. What he does, he does really, really well (a la “Over the Rainbow” and “Halleluiah”). And I think his “I don’t care” attitude is more of a “I’m very nervous talking in front of a zillion people…can I just sing for you instead?” kind of attitude. (A lot of the booted contestants have mentioned he’s much more personable off stage.) Some people hate his singing “faces”…but after seeing John Mayer twice in concert, he’s NO WHERE as creepy as that guy. Finally…oh the eyes!

I’m still sad that Carly was booted off before Brooke.

I HATE, HATE, HATE little Archie. If he doesn’t learn how to inhale quitely, I think I’ll explode! Plus, he’s a mini-Michael Bolton. Michael Bolton is fine, IF YOU’RE MICHAEL BOLTON. If you’re a 17 year old kid, it’s just ridiculous.

Whatever the outcome, I will buy David C, Jason, Carly, and maybe Michael’s CDs.

I hate when blog posts disappear. Happens to me a lot. :wtf:

I LOVE David Cook but like others have said, not sure he should win. It would probably be better for him career wise if he gets the boot earlier ala Daughtry. Then he has more creative control to get a band together and put out a stellar rock album. But other than Syesha, who I like, Jason and David A make me cringe so I really don’t care about the others.

I don’t watch American Idol so I have no opinion on a winner. Now Dancing With The Stars, another whole story! Love that show. Next week is the 100th episode & they are going to have a lot of the past celebrities on. Should be fun to watch.

Everyone have a great day. It is May already!!!

Cher as long as Spike’s health is good except for the eye problem I can’t see why the surgery wasn’t okay. Enjoy him. :snoopy: He will be his normal self soon. I agree, no one would want that cone thing!! Dog or human!

Liza, thank you for saying I did the right thing. It’s hard with animals because you can’t ask them what they want to do. We have to make decisions for them.

Cher- my girlfriends cat lost an eye and it never slowed her down. Sometimes the walls did though until she got used to it. I think she dented a couple. She had a tumor in it and she never regretted having the surgery (the cat or my BFF).

Donna- I also do a DWTS sum up right after the AI one- my Tues nights are really busy!! I am so looking forward to next week with Rascal Flatts on there. I actually enjoyed Def Leppard, who I like anyone, but was really surprised at how well Pour Some Sugar On Me translated into a Paso.

katie- I love Kristi- she is Heather’s hero and has been since she was a little kid and we saw her live. She skated over to where we were in the wheelchair section and blew her a kiss. It was so cute. I enjoy Marissa too. I think it is time a woman won for a change.

This is my first season. After visiting my sister in Michigan, she hooked me. I didn’t like David Cook at first and thought he’d be voted off right away. I had chosen Micheal Johns, but now that he’s off I am David Cook all the way. I also think he’s grown as he’s gained confidence. He sings with joy. While I like David A. he sounds like he is pushing the song out. But, Wow, what a voice for a young’un!
