Cute Boys
Leslie Icon

I read a headline a few weeks ago about a father who was mortified that his teenage daughter had seen that he had a picture of Britney Spears on his cell phone. (Personally, if I was a teenage girl and my father had a picture of Britney Spears on his cell phone, I’d be more mortified about his taste than anything else. But I digress.)

That headline started me thinking, and made me realize something: I like cute boys…does that mean I’m a dirty old lady?

Now, before the internet explodes with the news, let me clarify: I like cute young stars…not young men on the street. Just as Bruce has his little Selma Hayek/Scarlett Johanssen list, I had my own Hugh Jackman/David Duchovny/George Clooney one.

But lately, I realized my “list” guys are getting too old for me. (hee hee)

While I should, given my age, be drooling over guys like Mel Gibson (been there, done that, he lost me when he went crazy) or Harrison Ford (he was such a jerk to his wife) or good old George (eh, not doing it for me anymore) in truth, I prefer cuties like the two guys who star on the CW’s show SUPERNATURAL,

Jared Padalecki

And especially Jensen Ackles.

(Middle daughter got the season 2 DVD for Christmas and we just finished racing through it. That Dean–what a doll. And what fabulous dialogue!)

Let’s face it, I was a Tiger Beat teen. And once you’ve had Robbie Benson, Leif Garret and Sean Cassidy on your walls…well, you never lose your eye for young heartthrobs.

So here’s a little boy-toy eye candy for us all. Or, at least for those of us who are 1965’ers or older. You youngsters can legitimately drool all you want. The rest of us will merely amuse ourselves…Feel free to contribute to the list. Who’s your favorite boy-toy eye candy?

Josh Duhamel…(loved him as Leo in AMC, and in Vegas he’s just dreamy):

Jake Gyllenhal (oh, those eyes… )

Jonathan Rhys Meyers (have you seen The Tudors? He makes men in tights look HOT.)

Josh Harnett…more cute than hot.

Tobey Maguire…another one more cute than hot. But I love him as super-geek turned superhero Spiderman.

PS: I had actually started writing this blog several weeks ago, but never finished it. I had downloaded some of the pics, including this one…it makes me very sad to post it:

Heath Ledger

Leslie

LeslieLeslie Kelly used to say she wanted to be a doctor when she grew up, but then she discovered Nancy Drew books. Being a flashlight-under-the-covers-nose-in-book reader throughout her childhood, she couldn’t think of anything else she’d rather do as an adult than continue to lose herself in fictional stories. Her real life marriage of 20 years to the man of her dreams is a constant reinforcement that happily-ever-afters really can happen…and that they’re worth writing about. Living in Maryland, Leslie spends her non-writing time laughing a lot with the above-mentioned romance hero and their three daughters. Though an author of more than thirty sexy, contemporary comedies, she has recently branched out to write dark romantic suspense under the pseudonym Leslie Parrish.

Hmmm, I’m trying to think of some younger men that do it for me, but I still like my rugged older men. I’m 36, so I like Clive Owen, Richard Armitage, Hugh Jackman, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Gerard Butler. I will admit I do have a bit of a crush on the boys in the BBC version of “Robin Hood”, but Richard is what makes it. Well, there is James McAvoy in “Becoming Jane”. I think he might be in his late 20’s….

I’m not a boy toy kinda girl. My taste runs older … I don’t consider Josh Duhamel a boy toy. He’s 36 and only X years younger than me. :rotfl1:
    Seriously.
I don’t know why but the young hotties my girls die for don’t really do it for me!

I like the older man but boy toys are really nice to look at. Jensen Ackles is one of my faves. I just love Supernatural! Ryan Gosling is another one. I didn’t have any Tiger Beats when I was a kid but friends at school had them. I liked Lance Kerwin from James at 15.

Good Morning Plotmonkeys and Jungle Bunnies,

Leslie, I definitely agree with you about Mel and George. Mel’s weird antics just totally turned me off. He has really gone off the deep end along with Tom. The day I saw Danny De Vito, drunk as a skunk appear on The View after being out all night partying with Georgie Clooney I’m sorry but I lost respect for both of them. I won’t even get into what he and Rosie Whatsit said about the president which was despicable.

As far as Harrison Ford “being a jerk to his wife”–I can’t really speak to that. I didn’t hear what went down. The only thing I can say is that divorces aren’t done in church. I’ve been through one–over 20 years ago now–a short lived and basic nightmare–and fault lies on both sides because it definitely takes two people to make a marriage. Either way, divorces aren’t pretty. Just look at Paul McCartney and the peg leg–From outside looking in I’m on Paul’s side. But the fact is, only those two know what really went down.

I must agree with Carly about “boy toys”–I like older men. I see young guys and might think they’re cute but beyond that for me they’re just kids.
At my age I could be their mother!

    Have a great day,

    Cher :cooldance:

Oh, one more thing, no offense to anyone who has a prosthesis or has a family member or friend with a prosthesis or contributes to or runs an organization for people with a prosthesis.

I just don’t like Paul’s soon-to-be-ex. I also know someone personally who has a prosthesis and she is equally as weird.

That said, my opinion here doesn’t include the general population of people with a prosthesis.

Actually, my opinion doesn’t mean squat so please take it with a grain of salt.

    Cher

I love Josh Duhamel! Loved him as Leo on AMC and only started watching Las Vegas because he was on the show. I also love both guys from Supernatural, but I’ve really never watched the show much. Loved Jared as Dean on Gilmore Girls and Jensen was on Days as Eric. I personally love Milo from Heros(played Jesse on Gilmore Girls) and Jeffrey Dean Morgan from Grey’s(isn’t he the dad from Supernatural too?).

How could you…how could you…how could you even think to suggesting that Scarlett Johanssen is on my list?!!! She is so NOT on my list. Selma, oh most definitely. Charlize, Halle? Yep. Leslie, Leslie, Leslie.

Jared Padaleck always makes me think Gilmore Girls- personally I liked Milo Ventimiglia more. I’m about the same age as these guys :-P. I have a huge celebrity crush on Raoul Bova, and I’m a big fan of Christian Bale – love his movies. I’m less of a fan of Jake Gyllenhal b/c Donnie Darko freaked me out too much. :-X I think I liked Jonathan Rhys Meyers more *before* the Tudors, and while Josh Harnett is pretty – I can’t stand his acting. Haha, apparently I’m very picky. But I do like JMR – he’s why I watched the Tudors.

As far as ‘boy toys’, I always say, ‘if they are legal, then that is okay”. ’tis true.

George does it for me. He’s hot. Being a 30 something, 20somethings are not really ‘boy toys’. I don’t really go for the ones you mentioned, either for the same reasons.

And can I say how happy I am that Jericho starts tonight!!! Skeet Ulrich is hot!!

Then there’s Jeremy Sisto. And for eye candy I still love to look at George. And Richard Gere (I remember when I was a kid the big goofy ears he had while still in high school. What a dork. NO ONE would have guessed he would be as hot as he is now.)

Age doesn’t matter to me (as long as they are legal). I liken my self to a connisseur. Hawt is Hawt and I can look (but not touch) all I want to!!! :snoopy:

I’m 50, and George Clooney still looks good to me.

But my under-40 crushes would be Terence Howard (because he looks like my husband) and Jude Law (because he’s so cute . . . the fact that he shares my husband’s birthday has nothing to do with it).

If they ever film one of my books, I’d lobby for Terence to play the hero.

Ok, I don’t think I realized that Daniel Radcliff had cleared the jail bait age, I probably knew, but just didn’t remember. He looks really hot in the latest Harry Potter movie, but my 16 year old niece has claimed dibs on him for marriage. She has pictures of him all over her room. Of course, she has to hide the Equis(sp) pictures or her dad would totally freak out(I made sure she copies).

However I have to say that after seeing The Guardian I was impressed with Anston Cutcher & it is obvious he likes older women!!! :winking: I like older men because boys usually don’t know how to treat a woman. Tom Sellack, David James Elliott, McDreamy & McSteamy are all :hothot: ! Just my humble opinon, of course!

I’ve really gotten into football lately (maybe it’s the pants). There are some hotties! And the ONLY reason to watch soccor would be the totally :hothot: Brazilian, Portugese and Italian players. Milo Ventimiglia — oh yeah, he’s way cute on Heroes.

Speaking of Supernatural & Gilmore girls…there was a scene last season when they were on a studio lot, and they’re on a tour and the tour guide says something like, “And now we’re passing the set of the Gilmore Girls! Watch closely and you might see some members of the cast!”

And Sam, who played Dean on GGirls, grimaced, jumped off the tram and almost ran way.

    Very funny.

I must be too old for eye candy, but, one actor I always liked (mainly because I thought there was great depth going on inside from reading his eyes) was Simon Baker of the CBS show THE GUARDIAN (plus, he’s hot).
