A Proud Mom Moment
Janelle Icon

Today is one of those days that is a very proud moment for this mom. While most high school seniors will be finishing up their school year and graduating in June, my oldest daughter, Danielle, will officially be a high school graduate as of this afternoon. She’ll walk with her class in June in a formal graduation ceremory, but today is her very last day of high school. 8O She worked hard to get all her high school credits, and now she gets to reap the benefits of that. She’s ready to start the next phase of her life . . . and I’m so NOT ready for that! :drama:

I’m so very proud of her . . . and very emotional about this moment, too. :boohoo: The past seventeen years have passed so quickly! For those of you with little ones, cherish every minute. The years pass much too quickly!

Congratulations, Danielle! You’ve become such a beautiful, sweet, and caring young woman. You make me so proud and I love you very much!

Janelle

JanelleJanelle Denison finds it hard to believe that it’s been nearly 25 years since she first started writing romance novels. At first, it was a way to pass idle time while her husband worked swing shift, but before long it became an obsession to get published. Luckily, she kept at it (it took her over 5 years to get that first book published!) and is now a Waldenbooks, Barnes & Noble, and USA Today Bestselling author! Now, after selling over 45 plus novels, she finds that her Plotmonkey pals help to keep her stories fresh and unique, and she can’t imagine writing a story without their input. Janelle lives in Oregon with her husband, Don, along with two teenage daughters that keep life interesting.

Janelle that’s wonderful. You must be so proud. Congratulations Danielle! My daughter is in 8th grade and we just went to a course fair at one of the high schools she’s considering and when they said welcome Class of 2012 I almost lost it. So I know what you mean.

Danielle’s initial plan was to get a part-time job and start college early. But now with the upheaval with the move to Oregon, that has changed. It all depends on how quickly we make it up to Oregon as to what she’ll do.

In the meantime, I have PLENTY to keep her busy around the house and in helping me pack for the move. :giggle:

Katie — It all depends on how fast our house sells. And it’s anyone’s guess how long that will take in this bad housing market. :impatient:

I know what you’re going through right now because my son graduated last June and just completed his first semester of college. It’s a lot of hard work but definitely worth it in the end! Time really does fly by. It seems like only yesterday that I was sending him off to kindergarten.

Janelle, Heartiest congrats to Danielle, you & Don (happy B-Day to youuuuu). To have raised a lovely, caring & hardworking daughter is a great accomplishment in & of itself. Will you have a problem with her gaining entrance to an OR college (since she wouldn’t be a long-term resident at that point)? On the other hand, even as an out-of-stater, it might be less expensive than a CA one. Bottom line, good luck to her being happy wherever she lands.

    Have a great time tonight.

Sometimes taking a semester off is a good thing. Especially when you graduate early. Heather did and it worked out well. My grandson, who was an A student in HS, didn’t. He also dropped 2 classes and failed the other 2 this first semester. A hard and expensive lesson to learn. I hope she enjoys all the little things (haha) that you will have her helping with in the move.

Do you have a move date yet???

Janelle, Correction to my post #35. Because my neighbor’s son had a problem when his family moved out of state, what I MEANT to say was “have you (collectively) had an opportunity to check with OR colleges to see if there might be a problem (financially) with Danielle being a new OR resident?…… Bottom line, I wish her much happiness wherever she lands.” Sorry, I really didn’t phrase my original post well.

Patricia — Danielle is starting with community college for the first two years, then transferring after that. We’re looking into the CC’s around where we’ll be living, and go from there.

Ev — No move date yet. Don will be starting his new job on February 11th, and hopefullly the house won’t take TOO long to sell. But you just don’t know — at least not in this market.
