October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I know we’re still in September, but October is three days away, and since my giveaways are always the last week of the month, I wanted to kick off October by making everyone aware of the fact that it’s Breast Cancer Awareness month.
During October, I always like to giveaway prizes that will benefit Breast Cancer research — as well as remind everyone to get your yearly mammogram done! This year, I’m giving away a gorgeous COACH Breast Cancer Awareness Multi-Charm Keyfob (retail value $58.00). The best thing about having purchased this keyfob is the fact that 20% of the proceeds from each keyfob sale will support the Breast Cancer Research Foundation!
Winners will also receive an autographed book of their choice from my backlist (Depending on availability. Sorry, BORN TO BE WILDE isn’t available at this time).
Most of you know the drill! All you have to do to enter today’s contest is post anything below, then check back on Sunday to see if you’re the winner! Once you’re done entering your post here, please be sure to click on the Breast Cancer Site link below and click on the pink button to help support giving FREE mammograms to women who need them, but can’t afford them!

Janelle Denison finds it hard to believe that it’s been nearly 20 years since she first started writing romance novels. At first, it was a way to pass idle time while her husband worked swing shift, but before long it became an obsession to get published. What a great prize and a great cause. I had my mammogram this year I never knew how important they were until my Mom was told she had breast cancer this year. I know now that the little bit of time and pain is well worth getting it done each year. Thanks for thinking of everyone.

My birthday is in October and I always schedule my annual mammogram right after my birthday. Great cause Janelle! Count me in!

Good Morning!!
My grandmother and aunt are both survivors! My mother had a scare about a year ago but fortunately it wasn’t cancer. I had my first mammogram earlier this year and will make sure it is a priority every year.
Have a great weekend everyone!

I lost a very good friend to breast cancer. I was bitter for the longest time over this terrible disease. Thank you for supporting such a wonderful cause.

What a wonderful way to remind everyone that October is breast cancer awareness month. My mom is a breast cancer survivor. She was first diagnosed in 1993 and had both surgery and radiation. Her cancer metastacized, and over the years, she has undergone several different treatments, including hormone thereapy. Recently, she finished an almost year long treatment of chemotherapy, but she’s doing great. My mom is the most courageus woman I know, and I’m so proud of her. She’s my role model.
As you can tell, this cause is very important to me. Thanks, Janelle. On a lighter note, have a great weekend everyone!!!!

that is a beautiful key fob i will have to try and buy one sometime. I had a breast cancer scare several years ago, thankfully it turned out to be fibrocystic disease, not cancer, but being i was only 31 at the time, my insurance wouldnt pay the bill, and wont let me have another til next year when i turn 40. i have lived with the thought of what if they were wrong.. i will be getting one as soon as insurance will allow..
My sister had a mastectomy in her 20s, and my mom and sisters all suffer from lumps.. we all wonder when they will tell us, sorry its cancer this time not fibrocystic disease…
what a wonderful cause to support, and what a beautiful gesture on your part to promote awareness…

Awesome prize Janelle, I just two weeks ago had a mammagram then an ultrasound to make sure nothing was going on. Long stroy short I am fine. But I totally support the cause my grandmother battled breast cancer twice 25 years apart. And My sister and I are co-captains of a team that does the annual “Relay For Life” overnight walk for the American Cancer Society.
PS: Sorry I haven’t been around much. I just got a part time jobs working at a coffee house in the mornings. When I get home my 3 year old just wants my attention so I haven’t been online in a while.

Great prize for a great cause! BTW, I got an email yesterday about the amount of lead in lipstick being directly connected to breast cancer. The way to test for lead in lipsticks is to put on your hand a run a gold ring through the lipstick. If the lipstick turns black, you have lead in your lipstick. The email said most of the long wearing lipsticks have the highest amount of lead(not just the generic brands, but the big name brands too). Just wanted to pass this on. Hope everyone has an awesome weekend.

That is such a beautiful key chain. I used to do the Y-Me race because my mothers company helped raise money there. I dont know why but they stopped doing that. I was very sad. Breast cancer is a very scary thing (well any kind of cancer is). It runs in my family so all the women are sure to get our check ups to make sure nothing is wrong.

It’s a great cause – I’m glad that so many institutions and people are working together to fund research!

Janelle, great prize. I just had a mammogram and an ultrasound on my right breast in Aug. after having had pain in it for a month, but all was fine after the tests. October is the month when I always have my yearly check, so it’s back for another mammogram on both breasts this time in a couple of weeks, already have the appt. The little bit of time and pain it takes is worth the piece of mind to know that nothing is wrong.
Take Care all and Have a good weekend!!!!!!!!

Janelle, what a great prize for a good cause. :present1:

My mamogram isn’t due yet but I get mine yearly. After finding something on the film one year I had to have a biopsy, it was benign, that for me was a painful experience, I never complain about my mamogram. Besides, I don’t think it is painful just very uncomfortable for a very short time. Please make sure you have one everyone. Four women that I know are breast cancer survivors.
While you are at the breast cancer site click on the other tabs also, or the ones you want to support, it takes seconds & they are all good causes that need your help with just a click.
Thanks again Janelle for a great Friday blog.
Everyone have a wonderful weekend.

Is 18 to young to have a mamogram and those other womanly check ups? i have no clue as to when i need to start checking….
Comment
Ayla, you need to speak with your ob/gyn. I think by 18, you should have had a regular gynecological check-up. For the mammo, unless there is a history of breast cancer in your family, it’s probably too soon. But doctors are doing them earlier and earlier now, so you never know. I had my first ob/gyn pretty early because I found a lump in my breast when I was 16. It was only a fibroid, thankfully, but I’ve been pretty good about my appointments since.
