Sunday Winner & A Gross Joke!
Leslie Icon

And the winner of Leslie’s Jungle Madness Cannoli giveaway is…

JOANNE K. Message # 55!!

Congratulations Joanne!!! Please drop me a note at author@lesliekelly.com and give me your snail mail addy, and let me know which of the Santori books you’d like to have. (They’re on the books page at my website, www.lesliekelly.com )

Congratulations!!

Now for a totally sick joke which totally cracked me up, sick, twisted person that I am…

A man who just died is delivered to a Kentucky mortuary wearing an expensive, expertly tailored black suit. Bubba the mortician asks the deceased’s wife how she would like the body dressed. He points out that the man does look very good in the black suit he is already wearing.

The widow however, says that she always thought her husband looked his best in blue, and that she wants him in a blue suit. She gives Bubba a blank check and says, “I don’t care what it costs, but please have my husband in a blue suit for the viewing.”

The woman returns the next day for the viewing. To her delight she finds her husband dressed in a gorgeous blue suit with a subtle chalk stripe; the suit fits him perfectly. She says to Bubba, “Whatever the cost, I’m very satisfied. You did an excellent job and I’m very grateful. How much did you spend?”

To her astonishment, Bubba presents her with the blank check. “Dere’s no charge,” he says. “No, really, I must pay you for the cost of that exquisite blue suit!” she says.

“Honestly, ma’am,” Bubba says, “it didn’t cost me a ting. You see, a deceased gentleman of about your husband’s size was brought in shortly after you left yesterday, and he was wearing an attractive blue suit. I asked his missus if she minded him going to his grave wearing a black suit instead, and she said it made no difference as long as he looked nice.”

“So, I just switched the heads”.

Leslie

LeslieLeslie Kelly used to say she wanted to be a doctor when she grew up, but then she discovered Nancy Drew books. Being a flashlight-under-the-covers-nose-in-book reader throughout her childhood, she couldn’t think of anything else she’d rather do as an adult than continue to lose herself in fictional stories. Her real life marriage of 20 years to the man of her dreams is a constant reinforcement that happily-ever-afters really can happen…and that they’re worth writing about. Living in Maryland, Leslie spends her non-writing time laughing a lot with the above-mentioned romance hero and their three daughters. Though an author of more than thirty sexy, contemporary comedies, she has recently branched out to write dark romantic suspense under the pseudonym Leslie Parrish.

    :cheer: Yay, Joanne!! Congrats!

Leslie – sick, sick, sick! :laughat:

Can I have a hissy fit here for just a sec… :hissyfit: We can’t even get any rain from a Tropical system! 18″ deficit – 15 drops aren’t going to do much to get rid of that! I’m really not sure it is ever going to rain again.

OK, feel better now…thanks for listening!

    Have a great Sunday everyone!

Finished, Nick, working on Joel (that sounds so bad). I flipped through Joel to find the scene….think I did, but I will have to finish the book to make sure…do you give us a couple of pages leeway (I am SO anal!).

LOL, Jodie — You can have a hissy fit with us all you like! I think we’re heading toward a drought, too, here in Southern California. We didn’t get hardly any rain at all during our winter season! :x

Katie — you can work on Joel all you’d like! And the connected scenes are pretty easy to find if you read both books — I’m sure you’ll get the pages right! :grin1:

Carolyn — I’m so thrilled you’re enjoying BORN TO BE WILDE! Don’t forget to enter our contest when you’re done!

Leslie — that punch line was so unexpected it made me laugh out loud! :happy2:

Jeannie – I live in a town that lives and breathes college football. If you’re not in the Pirate Club with season tickets you’re nobody (I’m nobody, by the way – we’re race fans). Anyway, yesterday ECU (East Carolina University) played the Carolina Tarheels. ECU kicked the winning field goal with 2 seconds left (I think the guy had missed 3 earlier in the game). The town will never be the same!

And, to be fair, I have to do the happy dance  since I whined earlier. We’ve gotten a little rain. Just enough to knock the dust down, maybe, but it did rain.

Here you go, Katie (plotmonkeyscontest@gmail.com) And for anyone else who needs the entire rules, I’ll post them here again! A big thanks to everyone who has read both of the books and entered! :thankyou:

Leslie and I have a fun “insider” treat in store for our readers. Our upcoming September books have a super-secret “shared scene” connecting our books, and we’re challenging you to find it!

Just purchase your copies of OVEREXPOSED by Leslie Kelly (Harlequin Blaze, available late August 2007) and BORN TO BE WILDE by Janelle Denison (Berkley, available late August or early September 2007). Read both books, find the shared scene in each book, and send an email to: plotmonkeyscontest@gmail.com listing the scene and the page numbers from each book. You must be specific with the scene and the page numbers from each of our books!

A grand prize winner will be selected at random from all correct entries and will receive a $50 gift certificate from Amazon.com. Two runners up will each receive a backlist book of their choice.

The contest runs until September 30th, so you’ll have time to read–and enjoy–both of these sexy, fun and exhilarating books.

But isn’t that a 3-way scene?? No double entrende meant. Maybe. Otherwise I am having one heck of a deja-vu moment here.

I just finished Overexposed on the way home from West Point this afternoon. NOT the book to be reading while driving.

I will never, ever be able to eat a canolli again without blushing.

Jodie, beware what you wish for, you might get more rain than you want!! We had a very dry winter last year so I am hoping for a real rain this year but not a deluge!

Ev…if you’re asking if it’s a 3-way scene, as in, it appears in 3 books…there IS a “bad girls club” scene in Overexposed, which also appearedin Julie’s Stripped and Tori Carrington’s Taken. But it is NOT the scene that appears in Janelle’s book, and that’s the contest we’re talking about.

We did talk about doing a Bad Girls Club contest, too, but everybody was so busy, it just never got off the ground! Sorry!

And Katie–yes, there is a story in One Wild Wedding Night called “Three-Way.” You can make of that what you will…

Leslie this was so funny I LMAO
:happy2: :happy2: :happy2: :happy2:. It is a bit morbid, but it does make some sense in a strangely logical way…the mortician sounded West Indian…in other words it sounds like a joke one of my relatives would tell… :happy2: :happy2: where do you come up with this stuff? I bought Overexposed again…I am impatient and I can’t wait to start it…my package will probably come tomorrow too, knowing my luck…I will just have to give this copy to my friend then…she’s Italian and I think she will appreciate the Cannoli scene…I hope everyone has a wonderful night…I am beat…tty’alls

    Peace and love,

Donna – don’t know if you’ll see this or not, but around here we’re very aware of “be careful what you ask for” and believe me the prayers for a tropical system haven’t been thought about lightly.

The last time we had this bad of a drought was in ’99 and even the newscasters were saying “we really need a tropical system to help this drought situation.”

Well…We were hit by Hurricane Dennis – it went offshore of Hatteras and sat for a week, dumping rain on us. Came back onshore as a Tropical Storm and 5 days later we were hit with Hurricane Floyd. 27″ of rain in 7 days! 1/3 of the state was flooded – they called it the “500 year flood.”

I’ve thought about that several times when I’ve heard people say (and even I’ve said) we need a tropical system but the rivers are so low that 200 catfish were found dead over the weekend because the water levels have dropped and the brackish water from the sound is backing so far up into the river.

    Moderate rain would be wonderful!!!!
