And proud of it.
As an aside, I’ve been married 18 years yesterday. Quirks and all, we are a great fit together.
That said we each have things we don’t understand about the other. Such as the subject of today’s blog. :happy2:
ASK ME WHERE I AM as I write this . . .
Sitting on line outside the Apple store in the mall on June 29th.
The iPhone goes on sale at 6 PM.

Ask me what time it is? I won’t tell.
I do have my dignity to protect, after all.
My husband told me if I come to the mall early and wait in line, I should put a bag over my head so nobody can recognize me.
But when I saw News 12 (local) I put sunglasses on (there was a skylight over head and it was bright) and I
I informed him that he may not touch my iPhone, look at it, drool over it or sniff in it’s direction – not because he isn’t here with me or because he is on the golf course – but because he made fun of me for coming here at all …
I’ll be the one with the shiny new iPhone and he’ll be the one begging to see it.
Obviously by the time you read this, I know whether I got one or not. I admit I’ll be really upset :cursing: if after X hours, I find out that they don’t have enough for me. I’ll be doubly mad if tomorrow morning, they have more than enough for people who didn’t wait in line and show up tomorrow.:cursing::cursing:
But you’re all lucky I’m a crazy Apple fanatic. Because I’m going to have fun and choose . . . 2 prize winners: One to the person who guesses closest to what time I arrived on line at the Apple Store and one to the person who guesses closest to what # I am on line (keep in mind I’m in a mall, not an outdoor store and the mall locks up at night so no one was here overnight.) Your choice of a Carly Phillips book to the winners.
GOOD LUCK!

POST MORTEM:
I’ve had my iPhone for 2 days.
There was a limit of 2 phones per person. I bought 2 knowing I could sell one.
No, I didn’t sell one. I caved. Hubby took one look at mine and adopted the 2nd one.
Yes, come Saturday morning there were still iPhones to be had in the store.
No, in the end I did NOT regret waiting in line. Sick as I am, it was a not to be missed experience.
Seriously.
I had a blast.
This phone does everything – EXCEPT write a book for me, Janelle … (she’s been making fun of me – but with love)
Anyone else pick one up?
******
Lastly, in case you’ve been living in a cave the last week:
CROSS MY HEART by Carly and SHE’S NO ANGEL by Leslie
are both on sale in bookstores NOW!
******
Also know that I realize I owe a TON of gifts and prizes and before RWA National in two weeks and after I finish HOT PROPERTY, I will mail! Thank you for your patience
:thankyou::thankyou:

You know, I knew it was coming but I didn’t know when, and I can honestly say not knowing hasn’t bothered me LOL. I got my laptop and my Razr and I’m content…but then I’m not a writer or someone who needs to be “on” all the time. But I’m happy for you Carly
I’ll guess…3:15pm and you were the 22nd person to get a phone.
Comment
Oh, and major congrats on 18 yrs with the dh – now that’s something to celebrate!
Comment
I’m going to guess you got there at 1:00 p.m. and you were 5th person in line. Glad you’re enjoying your iPhone and so nice of you to share the 2nd one with your husband.
Comment
Since the malls usually open around 8 am for the walkers here, I will go with 8am. and knowing that and you, you were around 26th in line. I wonder how many each store got??
I am going to wait until it hits the 2nd or 3rd generation and hopefully by then I can get it with my Verizon service. I have no desire to change over to another one just for the phone.
Comment
I’ll say you got there at 12:30 and was #8 in line.
Comment
Oh with all the excitement in Jersey, I forgot.
I was sitting in the car reading She’s No Angel when the crap hit the fan. I really enjoyed it and can’t wait for the next one. I wonder what the Feeney sinisters will do next. There has to be more secrets.

Congrats on 18 years!!!
And why are you posting on Monday? I’m going to be confused all week on what day it really is! Hope Leslie’s not too banged up!!
I’m gonna guess you were there at 10:00 (that’s when our malls open) and that you were the 5th in line. I hope you at least had a great time and made some new friends.
My son did that one year on the day after Thanksgiving to buy a skateboard ramp that was, like, 80% off. He had to get up at 5:00 (he probably never went to bed) but he said they had a great time with all the other people in line.
Comment
Jodie, that’s funny! I know we confuse people when we switch days, but Leslie didn’t have Internet at the new house yet, so she should be in tomorrow, if all goes well. If not, I’ll post tomorrow and Leslie will do my day.
Bear with us!!!
I did not make fun of Carly for her iPhone obsessive behavior because I want one and I want to play with hers in Dallas next week. I hear the 2nd generation phone is already in production, but that could just be a rumor. Seems to me they need to work out any kinks with Gen 1 before they design Gen 2, but what do I know?
Comment
Congrats on 18 years!!! I say since the mall here opens at 8:00 for walkers you were in line at 9:00 and the 7th person in line. I would love to have an iphone, but my cell carrier is Verizon, so I’m out of luck…maybe Verizon will have rights to the phone later. I know all the people around here were lined up at 5:00 am since we have stand-alone stores. Have fun with the new phone.
Comment
Congratulations on your anniversary yesterday.
I will guess you arrived at 8:20am and that you were number 24 in line.
Comment
I’m going to guess 8 am you were there and maybe #60 in line
Comment
Carly sounds like you had fun. I love waiting in lines for much wanted stuff.
I get to know everyone in line by the end of the wait.
I say you got to the mall around 9:15 Malls open here at 9 unless it is holiday shopping and you were 2nd in line.:doggie:
I so glad you got your baby. Congrats on the anniversary only a couple more years to go and you hit a big one.:doggie:
Comment
Enjoy your new toy. I think you got in line at 8:45 AM and were number eighteen. I read that there were only 22 phones per store. Was that the case in your mall?
Is the screen large enough to read with 50something eyes?
Comment
I’m loving the guesses. I’ll post tomorrow with the right answers … but my store had tons. Not just 22. Of course nobody would say that ahead of time, so in panic, people lined up, which was what they wanted I’m sure. Too funny!
Comment
I am guessing you got there at 12:31 and you were 25th in line (I feel like I am playing the “PRICE IS RIGHT” and I am trying to win myself up on stage!!!!!).
Janelle, I am LOVIN’ “THE WILDE SIDE”. Whew, I stayed up super late to read it last night on vacay….All I can say, is the a/c wasn’t up high enough and my eyes kept bugging out (husband thought that I was crazy!).
Where’s Leslie today?
Comment
Being a seller of verizon I too will wait for the 2 years.
Curious Carly does it get TV yet? We now have TV phones.
I love the new LG phones and they are remarkably durable
as phones go. I’m waiting for the phone that cleans house
and does dishes and windows.:violin:
Carly
I’m going with 2:00 PM and you were # 25.
Comment
Katie- The Wilde Side is still my very favorite romance ever. I haven’t decided if it’s because it was the first romance I ever read or if it’s just that Scott is that hot and so is the story!
Probably a little of both. I love him and the way that story is written. And I’ve always wanted to know – but would NEVER ask – if the champagne bottle thing really works!! :happy2: Janelle – please don’t answer that!!!! Friends say yes but I’ve never gotten up the nerve to try, besides we don’t drink wine or champagne (lol).
If you’re not there yet, shewww! Drop the AC another couple notches!

Too funny, Carly! 9:07, number 8? And what a lovely anniversary present to pick up for your hubby! :) And I’m such a late-adopter when it comes to technology! I was the engineering major in college, and yet I’m the one dragging my feet when it comes to upgrading the gadgets in our house. Boy am I thankful my hubby’s the “geekier” one and we have TiVo :)
Comment
I’m going to guess you were there at 10:00 am and #3
Comment
My guess is you are there at 9:30 am and you are number 25 in line.
Comment
OH how does this work if multiple people picked the same number? I didn’t realize two other people already picked #25. I picked it because it’s my age. I guess I should change my guess because it was already picked. I will say you were around #18 in line. I say this because maybe you only remembered what number you were because it is the same amount of years you’ve been married.
Comment
If more than one person pick the right # or close to the right # I’ll throw the names in a hat and randomly draw!
Comment
 Everyone,
Congratulations Carly on 18 yrs
My guess is you were there @ 11 and the 15th person in line.
Hugssss

Comment
I’ll say 10:00 and 20th in line
Comment
Carly, you are a riot!! I’m guessing you arrived at 8:30 AM and were #12 in line. This reminds me of this past Christmas and the lines waiting for the Nintendo Wii system. :happy2:
Happy Anniversary Carly and hubby! 18 years is great! My hubby and I are celebrating 19 years in November. Seems like only yesterday!
Comment
Congratulations on your anniversary:party:

I’m guessing you were there around 9a and were 10th in line!
I’m really wishing I were with you. I’d kill for an iPhone! LOL
Congrats on 18 years!
Comment
Frist, congrats on the 18 years. :)
Okay, I’m thinking you were there by 2:30 and was 32 in line.
This is fun. I have no idea why I picked those numbers but hey they sound good to me. :)
Also glad you did get one even if they did have them the next day.
Comment
A belated Congratulations on your anniversary!
You got there at 6 and where 2nd in line? I’m awful at this guessing stuff.
Comment
I would say you were at the mall before it opened so probably around 7 am and I would say you were 11th in line. Congrats on the phone!
Comment
Hmm. . . 8:30 am and you were. . . number 13 in line? :)

You guys are a riot. Just wait until I tell you …
Comment
Hi all,
Congrats on your anniversary!!! I’m sorry to say, I would be like your husband. LOL But I understand what its like when you want something and you want it NOW.:-)
I will have guess 5AM and you were number ONE in line!
Comment
OK, I will give it a guess and say that you arrived at the mall around 3:15 am and was probably around #33 in line.
Considering that people around here have set up camp and been sleeping at the stores for a couple of days, this doesn’t even seem close.
Comment
First off Congrats! 18 yrs….:cheer:
I will guess you were there with a drink, a book, maybe a chair maybe not–it was a mall–at 5:15 a.m., you were going to try for earlier, but these things happen. You would be hoping to be very first in line, but alas others beat you. Hmmmm….so that makes you #23 in line. :)
BTW, I finally caved and went to the drs……bronchitis, bacterial infection, and asthma……hello? I can never seem to stay out of a drs office on vacation……:wtf:

You know I just HAD to give Carly a hard time over this — her waiting in line for an Iphone while she has a DEADLINE LOOMING. She’s always eager to get whatever new gadget that comes out on THAT DAY — while I wait months, if not YEARS to get whatever it is. (I waited two years to get an iPod!). Unlike Julie who is anxious to play with Karen’s new iPhone, I truly have no interest in yet another techo-gadget.
So, Carly was telling us that this iPhone does everything. She said it’s like having a mini-computer in the palm of her hand. So I said (with her deadline in mind) “Will it write your book for you, too?”. :happy2:
Yeah, I’m a smart-ass, I know. And she knows it too. I don’t think she was very amused with me, LOL.
Katie — so glad to hear you’re enjoying THE WILDE SIDE.
Comment
i will say around 7am and you were the 3rd one in line . I dont blame you I would rather stand in line for a phone then be golfing !

Comment
Im gonna say you were there at 8:30am, and was like the 3rd person in line.
Janelle I love how you said to carly does it write your book… :happy2:
Comment
Janelle, Your a girl after my own heart!!!! lol I feel the same way…my thing is why do you need all that in the palm of your hand?? I just don’t have the time..sorry Carly:hide: My husband on the other hand has talked about nothing else since he’s heard about the iphone, and the funny thing is he can’t even manage the internet:wtf: Every time he signs online my kids hide:hide: because he has no clue what he’s doing:fryingpan:
Carly just keep writing because I can’t wait for Sealed With A Kiss:kiss:

Isn’t it fabulous!!!! I was in line at 1pm, 5th in line, at my local AT&T. We are not lucky enough to have an Apple store in New Orleans. The only problem was it took 5 hours to activate. My friend and I were both at my house and his took 3 minutes. I was left waiting for an email and watching him lovin’ his iphone ! It is all good now, and I do not regret waiting in line because my store only got 40. They all sold out on Friday night, and I had my new baby:party:
Comment
7 am and 7th in line.:cooldance:
Comment
My guess is that you arrived at 2:00 pm and were #45 in line.

Karen, No new gadgets for me, but, glad you are happy with yours.
&, congrats to you & hubby on 18 years of marriage. I remember you mentioning that your husband knows your vulnerabilities, but, doesn’t exploit them when you are having an argument/discussion. To me, that shows his love and caring for you. Hope you have many more happy years together.
