Top 10 Reasons Why Leslie Needs To Finish Her Book
10. It was due Friday.
9. It doesn’t suck.
8. I’d kind of like to see what happens.
7. If I finish it I can forget about it and concentrate on moving.
6. I can check it off my To-Do list.
5. My sprawling butt will thank me if I get up and actually do some physical activity.
4. My family might appreciate some clean clothes. And something other than hot dogs and potato salad for dinner.
3. I’ll stay published at least into next year! Woo hoo!
2. My editor is an angel who doesn’t deserve to get it so late.
And the number one reason…if I don’t turn it in, I don’t get paid!!
Top 10 Reasons Why Leslie Hasn’t Finished Her Book
10. I’m bored.
9. E-Bay.
8. Craigslist
7. 2 new books out later this month to fret over.
6. Don’t know what’s going to happen.
5. Have written more than 250,000 words in 8 different stories in the past 9 months. (Five of the stories are in this book alone!)
4. Blogs & email
3. Nobody’s standing over me screaming, “This is IT, time’s UP, get the damn thing done you lazy loser!” (which is usually a voice inside my head, and is usually the one who prompts me to write 100 or so pages in a week.)
2. I’ve hit the “I suck, why did I ever think I could do this?” wall again.
And the number one reason, as I’m sure you all know…I bought a house and am finally moving….WAHOO!!
Wish me luck on finishing, ‘kay?

Leslie Kelly used to say she wanted to be a doctor when she grew up, but then she discovered Nancy Drew books. Being a flashlight-under-the-covers-nose-in-book reader throughout her childhood, she couldn’t think of anything else she’d rather do as an adult than continue to lose herself in fictional stories. Her real life marriage of 20 years to the man of her dreams is a constant reinforcement that happily-ever-afters really can happen…and that they’re worth writing about. Living in Maryland, Leslie spends her non-writing time laughing a lot with the above-mentioned romance hero and their three daughters. Though an author of more than thirty sexy, contemporary comedies, she has recently branched out to write dark romantic suspense under the pseudonym Leslie Parrish.

I have a great reason to finish your book…
I love reading your books and always look forward to seeing your books on the bookstore shelves. Please don’t stop writing. We love you! :love2:
There… did that help?!?

Hi Leslie,
Good Luck and Congrats on the new house.
I agree with Carolyn
I love reading your books and always look forward to seeing your books on the bookstore shelves. Please don’t stop writing. We love you! :love2::love2:

I also think the best reason to finish is because we get to read it. And you will get to sell lots and lots of copies. You can’t do that if you don’t finish.
NOW GET MOVING-ON THE BOOK- NOT THE HOUSE!!!!!:hissyfit:
You can do the house when you turn that sucker in.
Comment
GET YOUR FANNY IN THE CLOSET NOW!!!
I see you hiding under that chair. I am going to nag you until you get finished. You better have written something by the time I get home from work tonight young lady or else. I will come down there and stand over you until you finish. :)

WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN WHEN I NEEDED YOU, BARB? Hmmmm????? It’s all your fault I’m late. You haven’t used the locks. You haven’t used the whip. No wonder they call you Bad Barb! :happy2:

Leslie: No finish the book, you can’t buy stuff for your house. If you don’t finish the book, then what am I going to read? Congrats on the house….good luck….got a sick boy today and we just got back from a weekend trip, so I have a TON of stuff to do….

Okay, time for reality. No more buying for the house until you finish the book. Nope, nothing. I know you’ll die if you just don’t buy that one thing but nope. It’s now become part of your personal GMC. You must finish the book or else. No furniture. :)
So, you know I love your work and want to see you finish. And
do you mean “Why did you ever think you could do this wall”? You’ve published countless books all that are wonderful and loved by your readers and your writers alike. Now, I know it’s that ugly head of I can’t do this whinning but YES, You Can!!!
I have to agree with BadBarb. I think it would be great if you gave us a page count at end of day. Maybe one each end day until you’re finished. If you need us to we’ll stand over you and with you until you’re done. :love2:

Leslie, Good news–just ordered HEAT WAVE through eHQ’s “upcoming books” ordering system. Bad news–you have to get the current book to Brenda. Sorry the book’s “date to editor” is so close to the move. It must be hard to focus with that happy event in your future. HUGS.

Reporting in from my conference in Philadelphia. I’m glad to see so many here agreeing with what I said as I was leaving yesterday…stop buying stuff for the house and write the book. If you don’t send me page counts and pages to read while I’m here there will be no rewards when I get home. Speaking of which, there’s an Italian bakery in the Reading Terminal Market just across the street from the hotel and they have…cannoli
. Miss you.

I think I need to steal some of your reasons! They sound a lot better than – I’m procrastinating.

And no one will bring you canolli’s either. (I think that was sweet).:happy2:
tina- Happy Rainy B’day!!!:cocktail::cake::cocktail: It’s raining here too. My day off. I would go back to bed, but I just changed it. Althugh curling up on the couch with a book when I get the shopping done sounds just right.
I have to go figure out what to make for dinner. Maybe stuffed peppers.

For those of you following my reading,
I have finally finished all of the body guard books by Cindy Gerard.
(She guest Blogged here, you remember)
I really got into these books each one was better than the last.
I hate to admit it but the last one even had my eyes weeping for a bit.
It was the last but I am seeing at least 3 or 4 more in a take off.
At least I hope so. Thanks Plotmonkeys once again you have
introduced me to some really good reads by a good author.

Bruce, cannoli–oh yum! Leslie, you have to finish that book!! Just like the little engine that could, I know I can, I know I can!! Just keep chugging along & soon it will be done. I’ll be checking back for a page count.

Leslie,
Go to work. I agree with everyone else on all the reasons you need to work–plus I saw that sexy e-mail from your hubby. Honey, if I got an offer like that I would so be shutting up and putting up. So, stop checking this blog until you can report in with some headway.
The next time you go shopping for the house your first stop should be sexy lingerie for Bruce and the door. but only if you do your work.
We :love2::love2::love2: you:!:

Ahem…I’ll never look at another cannoli the same way again after reading what Leslie has her hero and heroine do with one in her upcoming Blaze.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TINA!!! We have gorgeous blue skies…but it is HOT outside. You can’t win for losing. Honestly, I love rainy days. Get in the pjs, grab a book and snuggle on the couch with a good reading light!
Leslie, you have to finish because you can’t help me plot my book until you’re done with yours!! Not motivation enough…I know… :happy2:
Comment
lol Julie…you’re going to have everyone hungry for cannoli!
And I am looking forward to helping you with your new story…and having you help me with mine!
8 pages today so far. Not good enough, but I’m still working! Thanks again everyone for all the encouragement!

Bruce: I think you should tease her with that canolli some more….no book, no canolli (okay, now you have spoiled canolli for me forever)….I’ll just stick with my truffles.
Leslie:If you are reading this, get back to work….you can do it! Think door and canolli…

well I guess the Number 1 reason should have been the canolli, huh?
Lesie, dear, as much as I get a kick out of your answers,
Bad barb is going to kick your butt if you don’t get busy writing.
You can’t write if your hanging in the closet handcuffed the the hanger pole.
Comment
Woweeeeeeeeeee Leslie!:love2::kiss::love2::kiss::love2:
Bruce wants to bring you home a canolli get writing girl.
That sounds like way over the top incentive to me.:love2:

I’m chiming in a little late here – it’s close to 7:30 back where you are Leslie and I noticed you hadn’t given us your page count yet so hopefully it’s not too late for me to say… You Can Do It! and Good Luck! and Just let those creative juices flow (you are such a wonderful writer)! and last but not least, Enjoy the cannoli whether you’re finished or not! :)
Happy Birthday Tina!

I make a perfectly innocent (why isn’t there an icon with angel wings and a halo?) offer to bring my wife one of her favorite desserts as a reward for writing her book and look where the discussion goes. I don’t know WHAT you guys are talking about.
Jeannie, I like how you think too. Handcuffs? Hmm… (I guess the need for the angel icon was short lived).
Happy Birthday Tina!
Comment
Well 12 pages and still counting…I really want to hit 15 before I quit for the night. Thanks again for all the cheering!
As for the cannoli scene…well, let’s just say it might take people who aren’t forwarned a little by surprise in my next Blaze. And will probably get a lot of people jonesing for a cannoli…:happy2:
Maybe I’ll use that as my exclusive Plotmonkeys excerpt come September!

Bruce, this *is* the jungle, you know…

Good Luck with the pages!
You’re almost there! THEN you can buy stuff for the house.

Of course I know Julie and I wouldn’t have it any other way . Surely you didn’t buy my feigned innocence, you know me better than that.

Not for a second.
<- this is my favorite icon, btw.

I’m rather partial to that one myself. Wonder why? I miss seeing you Julie. Hopefully we’ll get together one of these days.
