Pre-empted
Carly Icon

Best wishes and Happy Tuesday from me to you from the beaches of Aruba!

So tell me … where is your favorite vacation spot – real or imagined?

Carly

CarlyCarly Phillips would like to take 100% credit for all her stories but the truth is, Carly’s strength is writing family, emotion, funky elderly people and animals. She couldn’t plot her way out of a paper bag, which is why she smartly found her plotmonkey pals early on in her writing career. Thanks to their support, Carly is now a NYT Bestselling author of 23 plus novels. Because writing doesn’t keep her busy enough, Carly is also a wife, a mother of one preteen and one teenage daughter, the primary care giver of her soft coated Wheaten terrier and an expert carpool mom.

    Here’s a big shocker…Disney World!

As for beach-type vacation spots…I’d say Honolulu. At the Marriott. In the upgraded room overlooking the lagoon. With the bathroom as big as my master bedroom at home. And awesome blue Hawaiis that matched the water.

With the family, I love going to Orange Beach. We know where everything is, already have our video rental accounts set up, etc… It’s always relaxing.

With friends, definitely Sedona. Love, love, love the atmosphere out there.

Aruba! I’ve always wanted to go there. A few years ago, there was a raffle for a trip to Aruba, and I was sooo upset I didn’t win LOL. This month when the temps were in the single digits would have been the perfect time to go….

Although I love to vacation in Hawaii, I have become very happy traveling to Mission, Texas where we have made many friends and we enjoy doing things together plus during the winter months it is usually sunny and warm since I reside in the cold North.

My sister and I love to take her family to Disney World. Added bonus is we can see my brother since he lives in Orlando. But I love the beach at any time of the year or Chicago(but not during the big snow time of year)can’t wait for my trip in April. Have a blast in Aruba Carly!!!

I want to go to Hawaii. I will someday if it kills me. First on the NCL ship that does all the islands and then I can decide which island I want to spend more time on.

Unfortunately our vacation usually consists of a few days at the shore in Jersey with his son and family. oh, goody.

We went to the Cayman Islands and it was wonderful — your picture brought me back. :) Thanks.

For annual vacations, Cape Cod is our favorite place — in the US, I have yet to find more beautiful beaches, and I’ve been to a lot of beaches. ;)

I also enjoyed hiking in the desert of southern CA — would like to do more of that…

Wow, Liza…I could have written your entire post! Disney World and Chicago (in the spring)! Love it.

I went to Aruba once and it was one of my worst trips ever. I know it’s a fluke, but I doubt I could get my husband to go back.

Ev, we saved up frequent flyer miles and hotel miles and Am Ex miles and went to Hawaii last year. I loved Honolulu. Maui was meh. It’s a great island if you love just lying on the beach or doing sports. Me, I like lying on the beach, but I can only do so much of that. I need to get out and about. Honolulu had the best stuff to do…museums, exhibits, Pearl Harbor, etc. And our hotel there ROCKED. The one is Maui was under renovation, but no one bothered to tell us that when we booked our stay. Sometimes, it all goes down to luck.

Depends on who I am going with. I have always wanted to go to Tahiti (ever since I was a kid). I would love to go back to Australia. I would love a combo of beach and stuff. With the kids, Disneyland or Disney World, duh. Plus, an added bonus of seeing hubby and I’s “park bench” (where we got engaged).

I will take a cruise ship to ANYWHERE! I love being waited on hand and foot, three gourmet meals a day. Being lazy, etc. Last year we went on a 14 day cruise to the Hawaiian islands and it was the best and most relaxing vacation ever!

Have fun in Aruba, Carly! :cocktail:

Real — any place I go with my aunt for her siemniars are my favorite places to vaca in the summer.

Went to Canada last year and the year before that Florida, so it changes with each new place I come in contact with for the first time.

A beach anywhere pretty much works for me. I love the Carribean and have always wanted to go to Hawaii but hubby is so set against it because of the long flight. From NC, LA is only 1/2 way and he just doesn’t travel well – too ADD.

Same goes for Australia. We all want to go but none of us want to sit on a flight for 19 hours. I guess it depends on how BAD we want, huh? (lol).

Hope those of you stuck in the cold and snow get a break soon. Here the temps are supposed to be mid 60′s today and through the rest of the week. And I am sooooo glad! Hope everyone else gets a break too!

My dream vacation: Greece and Ireland. I would love to go to both of those places :)

Here is the states I still want to go to Las Vegas – hopfully this year.

Any vacation spent at the beach is great for me. I love the water and even love the sand most of the time (not so much in the bathing suit)

Hope you have a great time in Aruba Carly.

I think my favorite place to go is Panama City Beach, FL. My family goes every summer but I haven’t been able to go for the past two years so I am really looking foward to this years trip. I live in Alabama so it only takes four hours to get there which is great since I hate long car rides. There is also this wonderful steak house, Angelos, that we always go eat at.

Aruba looks inviting. My favorite place for a vacation is the mountains – Yellowstone or Montana. But, for a beach location I would go back to the Atlantis on Paradise Island, Bahamas. That was soooo cool!

Lynn, totally agree with you on Atlantis…coolest place. But EXPENSIVE! I remember our first night–we paid $100 for a buffet dinner for the three of us–my daughter was only 7. We skipped breakfast nearly every day b/c it was so pricey. We didn’t buy a meal plan, which I guess we should have. Lunch of hot dogs, chicken tenders and one frou-frou drink for me, one beer for my hubby was $50!

We’re thinking about Yellowstone this summer. My parents are going and we might tag along!

Julie, we went on a package that, all considered, was not too bad. My aunt took 10 people, which included myself, my then 10 year old daughter and 6 year old son. Anytime we discuss going anywhere my son asks to go back! He really enjoyed the Mayan Temple! He overcame his fear of water on the small slide. YEA! We didn’t actually stay in the hotel. We stayed at a different hotel that access privileges. Made the cost easier to swallow.
