Saturday Chit-Chat (December 30)

Jennifer Y asked:
If you could switch places with one fictional character (tv, movie, book, etc.) who would it be and why?

CP: Easy! Sydney Bristow from Alias. Why? Other than the obvious kissing Vaughn/Michael Vartan? She leads an exciting life I could only dream about and take chances I’d never take in real life, and still get the man! And when I’m back to being me, I’d have all the secrets to plotting and excitement and emotional angst and drama for my books!

JEL: Ah, yes…easy, easy! Piper Halliwell on Charmed. While Phoebe is my favorite character, Piper has the coolest powers in being able to blow things up and freeze things. And she’s a mom. She’s a little whiny for my tastes, but if I was her, I’d change that. Besides, Leo is hot. Not as hot as Cole, but while bad boys are fun and all that, it’s the good guys who win your heart. I also wouldn’t mind being Hermoine Granger. The only thing that keeps me from that is having to relive teenage angst. No thanks. Otherwise, she’s cool. (Yes, I’m still writing my witch books, so yes, I’m still on witches!)

LK: Hmm…not so easy for me, I would really have to think about this one. Do I want to be a kick-ass heroine? Or a romantic one? An important statesperson? A powerful historical leader? Too confusing! So I think I’ll just be Cinderella. You know–strong, determined, romantic, married to a prince. Yeah. Cinderella.

Carly

CarlyCarly Phillips would like to take 100% credit for all her stories but the truth is, Carly’s strength is writing family, emotion, funky elderly people and animals. She couldn’t plot her way out of a paper bag, which is why she smartly found her plotmonkey pals early on in her writing career. Thanks to their support, Carly is now a NYT Bestselling author of 23 plus novels. Because writing doesn’t keep her busy enough, Carly is also a wife, a mother of one preteen and one teenage daughter, the primary care giver of her soft coated Wheaten terrier and an expert carpool mom.

Nice as Michael Vartan is, I don’t think I could be Sydney, just thinking about all the torture she’s been through — the dentist! Ugh! LOL

Cinderella is an interesting choice… I think she had chutzpah. ;)

    I don’t actually watch Charmed… (I know, travesty…). I do like Melissa A.’s hair though. :)

I think of all heroines I would probably pick Lois Lane — she’s smart, career oriented, a writer [G] and well, she has the best of both worlds, CK and Superman. :) I would want to be the updated Superman Returns or Lois and Clark version, though, although Lois always was a liberated woman. ;)

    Happy New Year everyone,

    Sam

Sam – and Lois Lane when she was Terri Hatcher had good hair. (Carly the shallow one)

Cinderella oh yuk! I already wash floors and have wicked whatevers. :happy2: Ballroom dancing is so overrated, and we all know once you have kids it gets harder and harder to get into those tiny waist gowns. Okay the princ isn’t a bad idea but mine would most likely be out on some crusade for years at a time and I’d be stuck in the cold stone palace. (Just having fun with you this morning Leslie)
I just loved the Don’t open till Christmas the characters were great and the story was a good one.

Oh Carly you made me laugh. I’d have bet money on Sydney.
And I loved the “When I’m back to being me” comment.
I love how you think. :cheer:

I don’t watch TV much so, Charmed, I’m not familiar with. I have however read all the Harry Potter books and Hermoine is great. I have to agree being a teen again’s not all that appealing. At my age, if I could start over, I’d take what ever age I got and run with it. So long walker here comes speedy sexy witch. I would however like better looking, better built wizards. I can live with but prefer to live without the slimey frogs,
although the chocolate one are pretty tasty.
    :cooldance: Good idea Julie.

Hmm as for the missing person I’m betting Janelle would pick a wild handsome bad boy with a huge heart.

Happy New Year everyone. Katie hope your family has recovered from the flu. Big Hugs!

LOL Carly — hair is a critical component, not at all shallow. ;) Although Lois on Smallville may rival Terri Hatcher in terms of sexiness, and she really is a good Lois, among the many failures of that series. I watch it, because I’m a Superman addict (can you tell? LOL), but God they’ve butchered the mythology….

    Anyway, that’s a different thing…

I would want to be either Stephanie Plum or Eve Dallas. Stephanie is who I am most like- klutzy to a fault. No matter how hard I try to make something go right, and the more important it is, the more wrong it goes. And yes, I have had one or two cars catch on fire.
Although I would not want to go through what Eve did as a child, I love how she turned out. She is one of the strongest characters in a novel I have ever read, and then she not only gets to carry a gun, got the hunk, but a super rich one and they get to travel off planet!! How cool would that be!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR ONE AND ALL!!

Fantasy, who would I be? :) I love Nora Roberts series on the Donovan’s, I think I would have to be Morgana, a hereditary witch. She is beautiful & has powers! Just think what I might be able to do to my ex-husband!!! Or maybe I could be a female Top Gun so I could fly in one of those fabulous jets the military has! Okay, enough dreaming for this Saturday morning. This is a fun subject that I really never gave much thought!! Back to reading now or maybe I should consider some housework, but breakfast first! :)

    Hi Ev,

I’m a Plum fan too but I think now that I’m older and this is fantasy right?

I want Ranger, she can have Joe :happy2:

I guess Ranger is that walk on the wild side, I’ve never experienced

:happy2: Joe is probably more like my husband. Yeah right but much older

and still naturally blonde, figures. (I wanted to put this :wtf: but I am

gonna use :biteme: cause I couldn’t do it.) Okay laughing with silly me

    is allowed.:happy2:

Right I got the silver, could be worse could be yellow gray I guess.:violin:

Then there is over the edge Hades (vivi anna). I don’t want to be her but

I’d like to have him if he can be boxed up and shipped. :happy2:

My Lord I am a sicko tonight. Look what a 12 hour work day does to a 60+

woman. Night all! Awe sorry Katie rest up!

Jeannie- am i in the right post or is Vivi stalking us???:happy2: and I agree on Ranger over Joe. :thumbsup2:

Sam- I am a collector of all things Cinderella. Not the other princess’, just her. And now my oldest step- daughter (who is a year older than me) laughingly refers to me as Wicked. Short for Wicked Step-mother of course. I always leave messages for her at work saying to call Wicked. :cooldance:

    Gosh..so many to choose….

Wonder Woman so I could have super powers and wear that amazing outfit and have shiny black hair….

    or

Olivia Newton John – “Sandy” in Grease – have an amazing voice and the ability to dance and sing in that tight black jumpsuit

    but

yeah, I’d like to be Jaine Austen from the wonderfully funny author Laura Levine. Jaine is a freelance writer and amateur sleuth who has a cat called Prozac. I’d love to be able to solve crimes! Awesome!

    Mhairi
