PS: this came to me after I posted the cartoon and it’s well worth using here:

A man came home from work and found his three children outside, still in their pajamas, playing in the mud, with empty food boxes and wrappers strewn all around the front yard.

The door of his wife’s car was open, as was the front door to the house and there was no sign of the dog. Proceeding into the entry, he found an even bigger mess. A lamp had been knocked
over, and the throw rug was wadded against one wall.

In the front room the TV was loudly blaring a cartoon channel, and the family room was strewn with toys and various items of clothing.

In the kitchen, dishes filled the sink, breakfast food was spilled on the counter, the fridge door was open wide, dog food was spilled on the floor, a broken glass lay under the table, and a small pile of sand was spread by the back door.

He quickly headed up the stairs, stepping over toys and more piles of clothes, looking for his wife. He was worried she might be ill, or that something serious had happened.

He was met with a small trickle of water as it made its way out the bathroom door. As he peered inside he found wet towels, scummy soap and more toys strewn over the floor. Miles of toilet paper lay in a heap and toothpaste had been smeared over the mirror and walls.

As he rushed to the bedroom, he found his wife still curled up in the bed in her pajamas, reading a novel. She looked up at him, smiled, and asked how his day went. He looked at her bewildered and asked, “What happened here today?”

She again smiled and answered, “You know every day when you come home from work and you ask me what in the world I do all day?”

“Yes,” was his incredulous reply.

She answered, “Well, today I didn’t do it.”

CarlyCarly Phillips would like to take 100% credit for all her stories but the truth is, Carly’s strength is writing family, emotion, funky elderly people and animals. She couldn’t plot her way out of a paper bag, which is why she smartly found her plotmonkey pals early on in her writing career. Thanks to their support, Carly is now a NYT Bestselling author of 23 plus novels. Because writing doesn’t keep her busy enough, Carly is also a wife, a mother of one preteen and one teenage daughter, the primary care giver of her soft coated Wheaten terrier and an expert carpool mom.

Congrats Karen!!! Way cool prize to win and if you need an extra friend to share…well…I’m your girl :P

Sunscreen is so important and it may take a little longer with the sunscreen but you can still get the tan.

Love the story. How true is that.

    Have a great Sunday everyone.

    Congratulations Karen:cheer: enjoy your prize.

On the cartoon…I too have 2 teenage daughters and I try to stress the importance of sunscreen. I came from the baby oil and Hawain Tropic days of suntan oil. Idon’t think any of it had protection back then. NowI’ve got the age spots on my arms and legs.

As for the nonfiction story. Loved it.:thankyou::thankyou:

KR, Vicki. She threatened me with a verve much like Marisela’s. So the blog goes up tomorrow…along with a great new contest. I hope some Plotmonkey readers come on by after reading Leslie’s post.

Congrats Karen! :cheer: Enjoy those wonderful books and B&B works products to boot. :cooldance:

I know all to well the importance of sunscreen because my friend got skin cancer from sunbathing and getting burned one to many times. You have to be careful when you are out in the sun to long and sunscreen is great protection.

I love all the fun and camaraderie of all the plotmonkeys and plotmonkey fans. Wonderful website!

    Have a great Sunday everyone!

    Karen G., Congratulations!:cocktail::cocktail::present::present::thumbsup2:
    Enjoy your Plotmonkey prize! :)
My skin is very fair so I need to be careful. I love the sun if it is not to hot but I’m very careful about not spending to much time in the sun & I wear sunblock/sunscreen a lot–not often enough probably but most of the time. A good friend of mine recently told me about her son that just had nickel size skin cancer removed from his nose right about where your sunglasses rest. His dermotoligist told him not just any sunscreen but one that blocks out both uva/uvb rays. The sunscreen should also have titanium dioxide in it. Consult a dermotoligist if you have any questions. She also told me that freckles are sun damage–who knew! Being a natural born red head I have always had freckles & when I was growing up there was no sunscreen. Yes, I did use baby oil, you might as well just put me in a frying pan because I always burned! I started using sunscreen as soon as it came on the market.
I hope everyone has had a good Sunday. :)
    Loved both the “funnies”!
