I’m Hooked . . .
Janelle Icon

On America’s Next Top Model and American Idol. Those are the two reality TV shows that I HAVE to see on a weekly basis. I’m totally hooked. On both shows, they’re down to the final three, and here’s who I’m hoping will win.

America’s Next Top Model. I’m rooting for Joanie. She’s been one of my favorites from the very beginning and I hope she wins in the end. She’s classy, beautiful, and unlike so many of the other hopeful models on the show (such as Jade) she isn’t catty. To me, she epitomizes what a model should be — inside and out. I think it will come down to Jade and Joanie as the final two, and I’ll be SO peeved if Jade ends up winning! Sure, she’s beautiful, but her personality leaves a whole lot to be desired.

Now, American Idol. I’m shocked and devastated that Chris Daughtry was voted off. I thought for sure that he was going to win the entire thing. He’s a guy who was a true original and had such a distinctive and unique voice. From the very beginning I was rooting for him, and I’m not really a huge rock fan. He changed my mind there! I can’t wait for his album to hit the stores, because I will buy it. He was that good!

So, my second favorite is Taylor Hicks. I just love his energy and style and he’s got a great voice, too. So, we’ll see next week if he makes the final two. Here’s hoping!

So, what are your predictions for each show?

JanelleJanelle Denison finds it hard to believe that it’s been nearly 25 years since she first started writing romance novels. At first, it was a way to pass idle time while her husband worked swing shift, but before long it became an obsession to get published. Luckily, she kept at it (it took her over 5 years to get that first book published!) and is now a Waldenbooks, Barnes & Noble, and USA Today Bestselling author! Now, after selling over 45 plus novels, she finds that her Plotmonkey pals help to keep her stories fresh and unique, and she can’t imagine writing a story without their input. Janelle lives in Oregon with her husband, Don, along with two teenage daughters that keep life interesting.

    Hi Janelle,
What a shocker last night on American Idol. I have liked Chris from the beginning but I must admit he was never my favorite. I love rock and all but I just couldn’t get overly enthused about his performances. If I had to pick a winner I would say it will be Taylor Hicks. I have pegged him from the auditions to make it to the finals. He is a little quirky but he entertains the audience. And thank god they didn’t convince him to dye his gray hair.

I normally watch America’s next Top Model too, but this season I haven’t been following it so closely. I do like Joanie. But now is Jade the one that can’t spell??? And makes up her own words?? If it is who I am thinking about I don’t like her at ALL! She is not a nice person.

My CAN’T miss show has always been Alias though. NOTHING interrupts me during that show, and with only a few episodes left in the series I am worse. I stop taking phone calls and answering my husbands questions 15 minutes before it starts to make sure everyone understands this is MY time. LOL!!

In my house ANTM rules. My niece comes over each week to watch it with me. (She’s 11 and lives right next door). Actually, our together time has been Monday’s with Seventh Heaven, Tuesday’s with Gilmore Girls and Wednesday’s with ANTM . We have been rooting for Joanie for awhile – while I don’t deny Jade takes some gorgeous pictures, as soon as she opens her mouth you know she’s in trouble. We do like Danielle too. What we don’t like each week is seeing Nicole (last years winner)! We can’t stand listening to her “life as a cover girl”.

I am addicted to ANTM! I have since season one. I have even gotten my husband, my good friend and cousin addicted to it as well. I don’t think they enjoy it as much as I do. I even have a little ‘group’ going via email where we ‘chew the fat’ as it may be with the episode.

I am rooting for Joanie, now that they kicked off Sara. I loved Sara. I think she was smart and funny, but I agree, Joanie is the epitome of class. I can’t stand Jade and I will definitely fast forward through her segments of ‘my life as a covergirl’ if she wins. Remember, “this isn’t America’s Next Best Friend’ (to quote Jade).

If you remember from last season, Nigel made a comment about Nicole that seems to be true. He asked the rhetorical question, “but is she a spokesmodel?”. I don’t think so. Naima and Eva (the previous winners) were so much better during those segments, they made me want to buy the makeup.

    I could go on forever…. :)

Barbara-Jo — I so agree with you about last year’s ANTM winner, Nicole! She’s so stiff and BLAH. I just don’t care for her, and to me she isn’t model material. Or a spokesmodel. I was shocked when she won last year over the other girl (forgot her name!).

I don’t think Daniellel will win, only because of her heavy accent and how hard it is to understand her sometimes when she talks. And if Jade wins, I’ll have to write a letter to the show, LOL!

I’m still sad this morning about no more Chris on American Idol. ::sniff:: ;(

I had Chris picked to win too. Seriously disappointed that he’s going home. Maybe the coverage of everyone being so surprised will boost his sales and help him in the end. I’ll run right out and buy his first album.

ANTM, darn I knew there was a show I was missing this season. Darn.

But I’ve been watching Top Chef… that’s pretty darn good. Give it a look if you get a chance.

Gotta watch Bones though. Wowser, I do like my Agent Booth!

So glad I’m not alone in my ANTM obsession. I didn’t like last year’s winner, I thought she was too whiny. I loved Sara, sad to see her go. Jade makes me want to puke. She can take a good picture, but I’m going to be mean here. She’s too old to be a successful model in the business. She’s 26 – in the modeling world that is OVER THE HILL. Not that I wouldn’t mind being 26 again. :) Plus, she has an ugly personality. Joanie is cute and takes a great picture, but am I alone in thinking she looks different after they fixed her teeth? And I like Danielle too – she takes beautiful photos, but her accent does work against her.

Look at me rambling on about ANTM! I must’ve needed to get that out!!!!

I don’t watch AI anymore, but even I know and have heard Chris, and I’m surprised he got voted out! I bet it was like the shot heard round the world! I’m sure my mom is devastated. She’s a huge fan.

I was shocked Chris was voted off but I was a Paris fan so I was really bummed about her. I’m not too into Top Model.

I am rooting for Joanie as well. Jade gets on my nerves and Daniellem while pretty, is not the best speaker. I agree with others’ comments about Nicole from last year. I kind of liked her then, but seeing her now she is annoying. I saw her on one of the pageants a few weeks as a judge. When they introduced her she had an odd (fake) smile and was posing for the camera…the other judges there didn’t do this.

I was shocked a little bit by AI last night. I am not sure who will win. If Taylor wins, I wonder what kind of album he would make and if it will sell as well as previous idols’ albums.

I couldn’t believe the load of crap that was dished out on last night’s AI. Totally bummed. Even though Taylor is my #1, Chris didn’t deserve to go home last night.

I don’t watch ANTM. I think that show would make me want to eat an entire box of Twinkies from depression.

I’m in complete shock Chris will not be in the finals! I too thought he would win the title. Taylor Hicks always looks like he is enjoying himself and sounds great.

I’ve never seen ANTM. :( I’ll have to check it out.

Don’t stone me, but I’ve never watched a single episode of either of these shows!

I unfortunately have a tendancy to get totally caught up in reality shows that I like (Joe Millionaire, Murder In Small Town X and Big Brother being my top 3 faves.) So I just don’t want to get started on another one. I have enough fictional can’t-miss shows that tie me down already…lol…(speaking of which, OMG, LOST! Carly and I have been zinging emails back and forth about last night and last week for days. :)

    (n) I don’t watch either show. I’d rather watch DOG the Bounty Hunter or some police procedural. :d Tonight’s a good night for TV. Will and Grace, My Name is Earl. I also like WEEDS. :[

Chris will do find without winning. I’ve been a fan since hearing him sing Fuel’s Hemorrhage. However, it’s not his singing that won me over. It was listening to his wife talk about how he came into her life and made such a difference, taking on her kids as his own, being so supportive as a husband and friend, etc. Such a true hero.

Oh boy, I can so NOT relate LOL. I don’t watch t.v. – reality t.v. especially bores the bejesus outta me. I think it’s cool that a lot of of people have such a passion for it and can commiserate, but it just doesn’t interest me.

Now give me Buffy, or X-Files, or Friends, and I’m a happy camper. I never get sick of the re-runs. But reality t.v. works better than a sleeping pill for me LOL.

Since I don’t watch either show I don’t have an opinion!! Well, not much!! Reality TV is just not my thing except I keep watching The Bachelor/Bachelorette!! Really dumb, what can I say! :) I did love Dancing with the Stars but I’m not sure that was what is called reality TV. It made me wish I could really dance! :)
I hope wherever you are the sun is shinning & you have a wonderful day.

Unfortunately, I have never watched a single episode of either of these shows. I watch so little TV that I found it was not worth having the cable anymore and have gone back to just the basic which there is not charge for…….mind you sometimes this decision does come back to bite me when there is something on TV that I would not minded watching…….. :)

I am devastated about Chris’s elimination on AI last night. ;( It kind of makes me wonder how they tally those votes… But I think Taylor is going to win anyway, and he deserves it. (*)

I haven’t watched ANTM this season. I wish I did though, it’s always so juicy. I just haven’t had time.

I used to watch American Idol faithfully, but not this year I just couldn’t get into it. I watched last Seasons Next Top Model, but I haven’t been able to catch this year. I guess it is because I watched it with my daughter last year and this season she isn’t watching it.
